While back had a mishap with the TV remote and my aim and no it hasn't improved since then either . Then again I haven't threw something in some time :)
At the time I was very disappoint , not finding it within on making a start on repairs it just sat , tried a few times and nothing progressed any further than that . Well it's time to get the repairs made and back on display . Finally after going over the damage only a few of the lines actually need replacing so that is a plus . Rigging holes are now clean up , right side strut fitted back in place waiting for one line which needs replacing . All the rest in this area are still there . For the main rigging lines I only need to replace three , all the others can be reattached with easy . Even the tail Feathers !
Stayed tuned , next episode will air shortly .

Good luck! I never look forward to repairing damage models, but once I get started it never seems to be as difficult as I imagined that it was going to be.
-
Alexis,
It’s good to see you’re getting back to this one.
I need your inspiration to put me back into the
WWI building mood.

Good for you, Alexis -
That's the way to go! I hope your repairs work out as your SSW DIII looks good - I favour your choice of markings for this one.
Regards
Dave

I'm looking forward to seeing work on this continue.

Good to see this one in the repair shop Alexis. I am like Rob: when it comes to it the damage is frequently much easier to repair than a first look suggests. I am sure that this is the case here.
Stephen.

I am looking forward to seeing this one put back into "Flying" condition Alexis!

Great to see you fixing this one, Alexis! A lovely model that just needs to come together! ATB, Marc.

I have half a dozen 1/72 WW1 and 1930s biplanes that await repair, as well as my 1/28 Dr.I, so it's reassuring to see I'm not along. Great work Alexis!
-
Same here. I have one that needs repair, but I haven't worked up the nerve yet.
Good on you Alexis!

Thank-you for the vote of confidence guys !
With luck the strut join should be strong enough to move on . Didn't use accelerator for if so it turns the glue white and sure didn't want that happening , bad enough my hair is already .

Perfect time to post an update while I watch Green Acres :)
Cab struts are re-rigged , missing rigging lines are replaced and the inter struts glued back in . Tail skid I pinned it for more strength Little paint for touch up and it should pass .

:) Reallllly sorry about the crappy photo . can I say that ?
-
Absolutely inspirational as I've got my own damaged models section already too large and seldom attempted to put my hands there.
And your SSW is too cute to leave her in a corner. Good luck!

Giuseppe , Rick .Thank you very much ! Glad it has stirred up some inspiration and hope it leads to repairs on your end Giuseppe .
This morning was spent getting the rigging back in place and the top wing is mounted again , now she is starting to look like a place again ! Just the flight controls left !

Very nice Alexis, your repair workshop does excellent work ;)

Thanks you Rick and Andrew .
I have one very satisfied customer who was kind enough to stand in for a photo op ! He s tickled to pink that the top wing went on straighter this time around then when she was being constructed . Now that is a positive ! :)

Next client had a mishap while landing , dipping his right float getting messed up with a wave just ended in disaster for him .
This should be a fast easy fix . Got broken during the move which I'm glad very little damage occurred .

Those are too nice not to repair. Keep up the faith.

A Real Beauty Alexis. As good as New Now! Looking forward to the next one.

Thank you so very kindly Stuart and Rick . Feels good to finally have her repaired . It sat to long waiting for it's day in the sun once more and will not be displayed anywhere near a TV again !

Lovely fix there, Alexis! Just carry on with all the wounded soldiers! Regards, Marc.

I agree, it's so good to see such excellent builds getting a second round of treatment. Bravo Alexis! (let's just ignore my still-untouched ice cream container full of 1/72 biplanes I mentioned earlier :-X)

It seems there's a backstory behind this one!

Wow Alexis - some real repair work going on here. The SSW is a big improvement and I am sure that adding the float will not take very long. It must be a good feeling to be able to look at these and appreciate them fully once more.
Stephen.

Yes it was worth it! Looks again like a nice Siemens-Schuckert 8)
And you will also manage to add the float again.
Cheers,
Frank

Thank-you my friends ! ;D
Zac , what container ? ;) There is a bit of a back story . I won this kit in a contest we had here on the site in honor of Des . This is a prize I won from placing which I was surprised . So it had a lot of sentimental value to me . So when I broke it , I was very disappointed in myself and it took a bit to get over that .
Stephen , it sure does being able to view her once again .
Re-attaching the float went well and is able to land once more safely . Had a side call setting out over to a local airfield to do a quick repair job on a vickers . Broke mount was repaired and the fire power reinstalled . While had the airfield taking advantage of that 3 mustangs landing gears where judged as fixable ending in the same treatment with customer care in mind with the up most attention to detail .

I hesitate to give it a name because when you name something it hangs around - that's how my sister and I ended up with cats when we were kids! - but I think of it as the Box of Broken Biplanes:

Two are models of aircraft owned by a friend while the trio of The Blue Max builds have great nostalgic significance because of the film! So all need some degree of repair and/or re-rigging when I work out a way to display or safely store them afterward.

That gave me a catch in my throat. I completely understand why it's so important to get that one fixed. More power to you :)

Zac , nice Bluemax collection and I do hope this is inspiration on getting your's repaired . Would very much like to see them . I understand that connection , just some things which are the smallest have the most meaning to us . Thanks for sharing :)
