Title: The first winner in the Special Hobby Grand Giveaway
Post by: Dave W on December 02, 2021, 08:38:47 PM
We are pleased to announce that the first winner in our Special Hobby Grand Giveaway promotion is Kent Karlsen of Denmark.

Kent requested the Special Hobby 1/32 scale Morane Saulnier Type N kit in RFC Service markings, saying the project would aid his rehabilitation following his brain injury.

We are delighted to help Kent in his recovery and hope he enjoys his Special Hobby reward. His prize is the requested kit plus a CMK razor saw and CMK multi surface sanding stick.

Please note we are changing the system for announcing promotion winners for multi kit promotions.

Unfortunately international postage charges now are so high, our limited Forum funds, donated by a small but extremely generous number of forum members, are essentially being emptied by postage costs when we run multi kit promotions of this size.

Our last multi kit promotion emptied the account with postage for single kits amounting to more than $A40 per item. We can’t sustain that. Our forum sponsors generously provide prizes but we are responsible for the postal costs.

So from now we are announcing winners gradually so the mail out rate can keep pace with the available funds.

We will announce another winner soon so stay tuned!

Congratulations Kent!  I'm sure I'm not the only one anxious to see what you can do with this.

Thank you for this 'rehabilitation' project Dave! Just for your information. I'm doing pretty good, thanks. I'm being treated with adrenocortical hormone (Speed), this makes my hands shake terribly. Although on Monday they reduced it to half the dose, and it's getting better (less shakiness). But as long as I'm being treated with that, no model building for me. I hope they will soon put me off this stuff! I will have to phase out the medicine slowly though...

Anyway my 'withdrawal symptoms' are getting worse and worse day by day, I just can't wait to get back to the 'bench'.  :o

Cheers: Kent

Kent,
Belated congratulations on being our first winner of the Special Hobby Grand Giveaway. Having recently finished this Kit myself I can say you've made a very good choice, it's a very nice Kit and builds into a fine model! I hope it helps you in your recovery process. (I have a Son who suffered a brain injury 9 years ago and I am familiar with the challenges of such a recovery) God speed, and keep the attitude and efforts all positive!
Cheers,
Lance

Many congratulations indeed……..a very worthy winner!

Just wondering, in the light of Dave’s comments about postage costs, whether members would be prepared to donate their own postage costs if chosen to receive one of these generous rewards from manufacturers?

I would kick in under the circumstances for shipping. I think it should be voluntary though as some may have reservations on entering a draw otherwise. Alternately regular donations to keep the general fund topped up always helps. If you already do - good on ya'

The Special Hobby prize kit Morane-Saulnier N RFC, arrived safely after it's journey around the globe.

I think it's a great kit getting me started again, monoplane not too much rigging  ;)

Cheers: Kent

I'm glad to hear it Kent, after being ignorant of MS types for embarrassingly long I'm excited to see what you do with your prize!
