So I finally got my stuff together and completed the rigging on 425 in it's final appearance... according to me. I spite of many researchers claiming 425/17 was visible on the fuselage I can find no photographic evidence of this. I made sure I did the dark squiggle markings on the right below the cockpit and the characteristic chips on the left... and light weathering as befits this airframe! I really enjoyed the Roden kit, there are some slight errors to correct and the Eduard PE is a really nice addition. No resin needed! The Meng one is up next and I really will attempt a less commonly modelled scheme!

Marc,
That's a great looking Trip-plane. The red looks just right.
Thanks for sharing you build,
Kevin

Really awesome rendition of 425/17 Marc! The addition of the chipping on the left and fabric defect on the right looks Perfect! Very well done and a great build log!

I agree with Rick: that is a superb rendition of this famous aircraft. First class build log too.

Hello, Marc
Your Roden Dr1 looks great!
This Roden kit needs a bit of careful work but looks good when built, don't you think?

Wonderful Dr.1!!
Nicely done.

Oh yes, wonderful!
Only some pictures are a little bit to bright , you can try a EV setting -1/3 or more negative.
I need to have a red triplane in my collection!
Cheers,
Frank

Although I never heard of a red triplane, I really love your fantasy paint job, Marc! Looks amazing.
Andreas

Yep! It is definitely red! ;-) Lovely model. I'm in progress with the Hobbycraft kit as 425/17 and I've come to pretty much the same decisions as you with regards to the id number and the weight table. I'm going to do mine as the intermediary step with the white 'bandages' overpainted and just the narrow outline around the 'Maltese' crosses.

I have to agree, while the idea of an all-red Dr.I seems outlandish and bizarre you've pulled it off! Fantastic.

Clean and neat job! I think that looks just right. IT would have been especially well cared for too.

Thank You everyone for your great comments on the Very Red Triplane... I'm very humbled to get such a response - I don't think I'm nearly as good as most of the modellers on the site. Thank You Rick and Stephen, you both comment so many times and encourage me. Thank You Kevin and Bob, your input is appreciated. DaveB, Great to have you looking in, a really recommended kit indeed! Przemo, your support always means a lot to me! Giuseppe and Ernie, I value your comments a lot... Thank You Andrew! Frank, Thank you for the comments! Yes, the photos may not be ideal, but with my old manual SLR and poor light it was the best I could do! Andreas and Jamie: Yes, all over red is just so weird and wonderful! Who would have thought?? Thank You! Zac, thanks for that lovely photo too! Ah, that red looks good! Hi Dan, good to hear that comment! Yes, the Boss would have had a Neat Ride...
Regards to you all, and enjoy your modelling!

Nice airplane, Marc - and in red too! ' bout time somebody thought to do a red 'un. But, did it not have a yellow nose, or am I getting confused again? (The nurses haven't been round with the medication yet today!)
Splendid model, Sir.

I absolutely love your triplane, Marc. Very nice detailing and the overall scheme is really lifted by those touches of missing paint we so study on those precious photos. Nice subtle weathering. I really need to start a triplane myself - your build inspires me.
Cheers,
Gary

Nice work, and nice to follow the build log as well!

Great model! Truly a good advertisement for what can be done with a Roden kit, I think. And you've completed it, which definitely makes you a better modeller (in one respect) than most others on the forum... ;)

Zac, thanks for that lovely photo too! Ah, that red looks good!
Part colour comparison, part humble brag ;D That's TVAL's example so you know they went to a lot of effort to get it right.
-
Thank you Fredrick, Jeroen, Gary and Sandy for you generous comments and encouragement - it is appreciated! Yes, Zac, TVAL is a major source of inspiration and some great research information. I entered this model in our local Club end-of-year competition and came ... nowhere! Not that it matters, it's OK to me but the model could have been better... Thank you everyone who joined in this thread and the build-log... that was a great pleasure to experience! Regards, Marc

Classic! Nice job!!
