Dear all,
My completed Fok. DR1 wearing the markings of Joseph Jacobs, summer 1918.
Thanks to those who kindly followed my progress on this one.

There are never too many pictures of fine models. It is a Dr.I in my all-time favourite markings. Very well done. Though, it would be fine to install a Clerget engine which were reportedly used by Jacobs on his Dr.Is.
-
A fine model, Dave. You've done your due diligence by correcting the kit's well known issues!
This is my favorite livery for the Dr.1.
-
It is great to see another Roden DR1 done to such a high standard Dave! Your corrections and as always your painting are excellent. Very well done!

Thank you Rick, Kensar and Prez!
Prez - yes, a Clerget would have been great but think of this as an example of his machine before one was installed.

Nice model Dave - looks really dramatic.
I'm sure you're right: he's bound to have flown it with a standard engine before trying a Clerget.
A fitting tribute to a man who later refused to join the Nazi party!
Excellent

A great build, Dave ... Quite beautiful and a testament to your skills! Regards, Marc.

So true. Very nice modell and one of the best looking color shemes (who needs red triplanes?)

Black is the new red?! 😉
Very nice looking colour scheme! Well done!

Who doesn't like seeing Jacob's bird in all her splendour?
Very well done, Dave!

Thank you kindly Sandy, Monty, Andreas, Borsos, Fredrik and Bob!
Forgot to mention that the decals included in this kit were very, very good (although thin so careful handling required) and gave me no problems - hopefully, Roden are improving the quality of thier included kit decals.

Fantastic build and finish there - love it!
I gotta do this one someday - such an interesting paint scheme!

Wonderful result from the old Roden kit Dave. Sorry I haven't been around to follow the build, I've missed a treat here!
Cheers

Top job Dave! A friend of mine build a flying full-scale replica Dreidecker and painted it in the simpler Jacobs scheme, this is definitely more eyecatching!

Thank you, Richie and Kiwizac

Beautiful work Dave...gorgeous model. Very well done, my friend.
Cheers,
Ernie :)

Lovely work Dave, I will be using your build guide to help guide my DR1 build when I get it up and running next month ;)

Beautifully done Dave. I have a soft spot for Jacobs' bird, though i've never built one. I think you've inspired me to move it up the build pile ;)

Dave,
Myself and several others have Mentioned the "Finish" of your DR1. I assume it was Hand Brushed as always? Well Done!!

Very nicely done Dave, a beautiful job on a Kit that really stands well despite it's age. I have one left in the stash and two completed (along with a Meng version) however after seeing this beauty I'm thinking one more (in black) wouldn't hurt. That's great news regarding the decals, Roden have always done a great job on providing attractive schemes but come up short on the quality of their decals, this is encouraging!
Cheers,
Lance
-
Thank you all very kindly, gentleman - I really appreciate it.
Brad/Lance/Andrew - I'm pleased this one has inspired you to have a crack at it. Roden kits always need a bit more in the way of input from the modeller but they always look great when built. I've always liked Roden kits on the whole. The improvement in the quality of the decals was a pleasant surprise and one I hope they continue with.
Rick - Yes, confirm this one (as with all my models - I use a 'hair brush' as opposed to an airbrush!) is entirely brush painted so thank you for comment regarding the finish.

Stellar work Dave - this is one of my favourite schemes of the Dr.1. I have such trouble painting black aircraft...and avoid it! But you've carried this one off remarkably and I have to congratulate you on this build. Brilliant result!
Cheers,
Gary

Sorry I am late for the party Dave - you know why! I am still looking for the warts - perhaps when I get to see the real thing I will be able to find them!
Another of your outstanding builds - especially the very fine finish that you achieve on all of your models. I am really looking forward to seeing this one for real - and later winning in competitions.
Stephen.

Your a gentleman, Steve -
Thank you!

Nice work! I like the light sheen in the last shot, personally I like that more than dead-flat :)
-
I can only join the chorus of praise: Nice work! A black model is not easy to done, and also difficult to photograph. You managed both.
Cheers,
Frank

Cheers Joreon and Frank!

Dave,
That is one clean, crisp build from a not so clean, crisp kit. Very nice.

Thanks, Stuart - despite the odd errors I really enjoyed this one

Missed this! There are no warts on that one - all beauty marks!!
Steve

I have warts. I know what warts look like. That build has no warts; any small imperfections are just instances of character! Wonderful build!

Steve/Jamieg -
That's very kind of you both - thank you!
