The Special Hobby Grand Giveaway
Thanks to our friends at Special Hobby the Forum has a selection of 1/32 and 1/48 scale model kits to share among our members.
The Special Hobby Grand Giveaway offers registered members the opportunity to receive a free Special Hobby kit from a selection of 1/32 and 1/48 scale WW1 models provided to us by Special Hobby.
The only condition is winners commit to building their prize kits and posting a build log of their project on the Forum.
As a build incentive, Special Hobby have also provided us with some of their amazing CMK razor saws and multi-surface sanding sticks as modelling aids.
If you would like to be part of this promotion please post in this thread completing the sentence “ I would like to make a (1/32 or 1/48 scale) Special Hobby kit because…”
Please specify which scale you prefer. You can also nominate a preferred kit but no guarantee can be offered .
The kits available are:
1/32 scale Bristol M./1c ‘wartime colours’
1/32 scale Morane Saulnier Type N “RFC service”
1/32 scale Fokker D.II “Grunzweig’s planes”
1/48 scale Albatros C.III
1/48 scale Phonix D.1
1/48 scale Pfalz D.XII “Early Version”
1/48 scale Fokker B.II “KuK fighter & trainer plane”
Each kit also comes with a CMK razor saw and multi surface sanding stick, courtesy of Special Hobby.
We will collate the replies and announce the lucky recipients here on the Forum.
Our sincere thanks to Special Hobby for their ongoing support. Please support the sponsors who support your Forum.

I would like to make a 1/32 o scale Special Hobby kit because WW1 models are never enough!
Possibly a Fokker D.II :D
Cheers
Andrew

I would like to build a 1/48 Pfalz D.XII because I have always loved the plane since reading Frank Tallman's book. Plus, I already built the 1/32 ones.

I would Like to make a 1/32nd Special Hobby kit because they are one company I haven't tried. I am certain it would lead to others!

I would like to make a 1/32 Special Hobby kit because I have never built a 1/32 scale WW1 kit before.

I would like to make a 1/32 scale Special Hobby kit WW I Morane-Saulnier Type N "RFC service" because it would a be great rehabilitation project for my brain injury… :o

I would like to make a 1/48 scale Special Hobby kit of the Albatros C.III because exactly that kit is not in my stash.
It would be great if also this aircraft type got the chance to be converted into a 1/48 down scaled original and a build report about that process.
Cheers,
Frank

Hello Dave
Can I have the KuK Fokker B.II 1/48 please. By coincidence the last month I was in my job I used their photocopy machine to make a few scale plans of potential scratch builds and the Fokker B.II was among them. I do not model in 1/32 and I have all the other aircraft in my stash.
Alan.

I would like to make a Special Hobby 1/32 kit because I am very good at starting a model and very bad at finishing one. If everyone here is watching, I will have to follow through and actually have a completed model to finally put in my cabinet, which is waiting for aeroplane to land.
-
I would like to make a 1/32 Special Hobby kit because the commitment to building the kit and producing a build log will ensure the kit will be the first kit I have completed in a very long time.
The 1/32 scale Bristol M./1c ‘wartime colours’ or 1/32 scale Morane Saulnier Type N “RFC service” would be my nomination - any kit would be awesome though!!
It will also be a great incentive to dust off my Roden DR1 build and get that sorted.
Andrew
p.s. Thankyou to Dave and Special Hobby for this opportunity, its a great idea!!

hi Dave!
I would like to build the Phonix Special Hobby kit as I never modelled an Austro-Hungarian plane before and I like very much their camo scheme. Besides 1/48 is perfectly fit for my limited room space!
Thank you, once again, Special Hobby and Dave for the wonderful opportunity!
ciao

Hi,
I would like to make a 1/32nd scale Special Hobby kit because Fokker D.II construction is worth of recollation as a part of WWI plane development

Good evening (if in Europe at least),
I would also like to enter the draw for no less than three reasons - two model related ones and one rather childish... 😁
1. I am seriously at risk right now. My current build has too few wings, no rigging and not even a propeller (see picture below). Any Special Hobby model in the list would obviously be a direct cure for this condition.
2. I had a CMK saw once. It was a fantastic modelling tool and did good service. But one day it broke and all that I have left now is this...
Getting any Special Hobby model on the list would get me a new saw and add something of great value to my bench. So I actually want the saw and sanding stick more than a particular model...
3. The childish reason... be warned, it's really childish!
If I were to get the 1/48 scale Fokker B.II “KuK fighter & trainer plane”, I could get away with writing KuK in every post on this forum as well as my local Swedish forum. That innocent and historically correct Austrian acronym reads quite differently in Swedish. It is in fact a quite rude word for the male genitals. Who would guess I'm about to turn 49 instead of 9 or 19. 🤪😃😉
Cheers Fredrik - who also applaud the initiative

I would like to make a (1/32 or 1/48 scale) Special Hobby kit because...
THE building of a
SPECIAL Morane Saulner kit makes my
HOBBY more
GRAND and I won't
GIVEAWAY the resulting model. ;D
-
I would like to make a (1/32 or 1/48 scale) Special Hobby kit because...
I have built a French 1/32 scale Morane Saulnier Type N and really
enjoyed it. It was an unusual and very cool model. I would like
if possible to give the 1/48 scale Albatros C.III a whirl.
Cheers,
Ernie :)

I would like to make a (1/32 or 1/48 scale) Special Hobby kit because it's something I have stashed but not yet built (not completed, at least...) ::)

I would love to have the time to build all the Special Hobby kits in my stash very soon, especially my MS Bullet, my P-36 and my Westland Whirlwind. But I must also be a realist, so I need to admit it won‘t happen in the nearer future. I wish all the winners of this giveaway a good luck with their kits and I am sure you will enjoy building them!

Hi
I would like to do a Special Hobby 1/32 kit because I haven’t done one and saw an interesting scheme for post war Bristol Bullet.
That being said I’m happy to do any kit available in 1/32 out of the box. Also I don’t have a razor saw yet- I know crazy. So that would be a treat. ;D :D
-
I would like to build a 1/32 scale " Special Hobby Kit" because it quenches my personal fetish for WW1 airplanes. I will strive to build a beautiful SH airplane if I won one and my favorite airplane would be a Phonix or Pfalz machine, without taking credits away for the other models
-
C'mon folks, this is a great opportunity and an excellent give away - let's get some more entries and enthusiasm up in here!
-
even though I understand what you are sayng, Brad, thinking selfishly the less entries the more opportunity for me to win! ;D
sooooo.... ush, ush... don’t spread the word too much!!!

I would like to make a 1/32 Fokker DII Special Hobby kit because... when I grow up, I want it to look like Borsos'!
https://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=9180.0
But I'll settle for it to look half as good, though :)

Perfect good sense edo, however like Brad I believe we can do much better on this with very little effort! With the number and quality of prizes committed to this give away we owe the sponsor a show of thanks and appreciation for their support of the Forum. Our population needs to continue to support the businesses, large and small, that support our little "backwater" in the Hobby of Model Building to make their investments worth the effort less they be forced to seek returns elsewhere. These are great kits and the bread and butter of our leisure pursuits! "Hell's Bells", if I can do this at my age with shaking arthritic fingers, failing eyesight, and the info retention features of a Heinz pickle with a SH Kit just imagine what you could produce from one of these great prizes!?

Draft a few lines, (But leave room for edo to win ;) ) and let's keep our little niche open and active!
Cheers,
Lance

That is a beautiful effort Lance and one I'd love to emulate!!
I have already entered so I suppose multiple entries are out of the question?? ;D ;D ;) ;) 8) 8)

I would enter, but I just can't commit to building anything at the moment.
All I can do is wish each and everyone of you GOOD LUCK and God Speed!

Well, let me join, too.
I would like to win any of 32nd scale Special Hobby kits because it would be a nice company to the only SH kit in my collection - the 72nd scale Lloyd C.V which build I remember as a great experience. And such a model would definitely make me respect SH kits much more, what they surely deserve.

I would like to win a Special Hobby 1/32 or 1/48 kit because it would get my butt in gear to build and FINISH something AND force me to learn how to post my progress pictures.

I would like to win a Special Hobby kit to replace the lovely Bullet or Bristol that lie ruined on my shelf - casualties of my move back from o/s 😪

Having spent all my life to date collecting and building WWI aircraft models in 1/72 scale, I discovered this fantastic forum with it’s wealth of information and incredible group of skilled and friendly modellers. I have been inspired to start collecting a few models in 1/32 scale. I would like to win a Special Hobby Morane Saulnier type N, so that I can try to emulate some of the skills on display here!
Good luck to everyone else who has entered the Grand Giveaway…..
