Thought I’d share the latest off the bench, a 60s vintage Airfix Avro 504k augmented with some details from the spares box. The model represents a machine of the Swedish Naval Air Service, 1923-1924. Coincidentally it had the same designation as the Farman I recently built - Flying boat no. 6. Decals are from Blue rider, which unfortunately lacked the underwing numerals which had to be painted.

Nice rigging in 1/72 scale!

Fine effort. And the unusual colour scheme. I like this model very much.

Lovely job, thanks for sharing!

Outstanding work on that Vintage kit! Excellent rigging and a nice change from the usual schemes.

Your 504 is great - lovely to see some different markings as well

I completely agree with all of the above. That is an old kit but you have produced a first class model from it. The Swedish markings are an interesting change from the more common RFC/RAF variants.

What an improvement on the base kit, it looks amazing! That first photo looks like it could be a WNW kit. Bravo!

Fantastic! It must be so rewarding to make such an elegant model from these old vintage kits. Not something I ever managed to do!

Very nice result! This biplane is not an easy type but you managed it.

It's always great to see someone bring one of these old Airfix kits up to date, and to see it done so well, with a not often seen marking option, is very special.
Superb work!

Thanks for all the kind comments, fellows, be sure they are encouraging. Which is needed :D - I bought a whole bunch of vintage kitsets which have not been kitted lately. They are certainly challenging, in some ways it’s easier just to give up and scratch-build or replace parts... In this case replacing the engine with a Roden spare is an easy face-lift that makes the model look decades younger.

Beautiful!

Outstanding - Who knew there was such a beautiful model inside that old Airfix kit waiting to get out ;)
