This is one project that i am glad is finally finished. Seemed to take forever. The faults with this kit are well documented but it still can yield a decent model. My greatest disappointment was the decals which disintegrated upon placement. I decided to build a generic version for the practice.

The cabane struts were shortened and control horns were scratch built. Mister kit paints were used and rigging was with .004 steel wire. Rigging this took forever!

I really had no idea how versatile this aircraft was. Several thousand were built and it was used by several nations . I will in the future build a two sear version

Beautifully built, painted, and detailed! It will be an inspiration for when I get back to My strutters 8)

Very nicely done despite the decal issues!

Despite all the issues (poor decals are a nightmare in a kit) RVW, you still knocked this one into shape -
Brilliant job

Beautifully done Rip, that is in no way an easy kit to build IMHO.

I always think that this is a much under-estimated machine which deserves to be better known. You have produced a first class model of the single seater - and all the effort has really paid of well.

This is a beautiful model; if the kit put up a fight it certainly doesn't show. The finish is outstanding and a credit to you!
May I ask - are the Lewis guns from the kit or aftermarket?
Kind regards,
Mark

That kit is not easy. Yours turned out excellent. You had to mention the struts. I had buried that experience deep down and locked it away. IIRC, the cabenes are too long, the interplanes are too short, and the plastic itself is way too soft and fragile.
If I hadn't known, I would have guessed you started with the Flashback kit. Very nice job indeed.

Excellent result - lovely neat work - more comendable given the problems you encountered during the build.

Thank you for the nice comments. Will someday build another.

Very nicely done strutter, Rip.

A nice model! This exact kit was actually my first WWI model ever -not the easiest and it didn't tun out a quarter as nice as yours, but I learned a lot and still have it, misaligned lower wing and wobble copper wire rigging and all :)

Very nice, corrections and painting make this a really good one.
