Title: Tom's Model Works Pfalz D.VII/III
Post by: Alexis on June 18, 2021, 05:15:50 AM
Well , this was a long battle on getting this build to this point were it is classified as finished . What a fringing nightmare this was and I still can't believe I let three rigging wires do me in . It is far from being perfect and will go on the shelf of shame . Not sure what happened to the personal markings for these are sealed but the accelerant for the super glue cause them to start flaking and lot a few rib tapes as well . I'm not fixing this it can stay as is . I will say this .. I don't recommend this for your first resin kit .
I did enjoy some parts of build that being the cockpit and I'm surprised the under carriage turned out well . There are many and I mean many things wrong with this kit . The wings need replacing with scratched ones , tail planes and rudder as well . The fuselage needs major work with correcting the shape .

Alexis,
I'm very happy to see you've got this kit tamed. It's a very impressive build.

                                                                             Happy Modeling,
                                                                                            Kevin

You have demonstrated who is boss with this one Alexis, even if the kit did not want to give in. I think that the shelf of doom is not an appropriate place though - more like just the back of the display cabinet!

Congratulations on keeping at this one and not sending it to the scrapyard in the sky.

Stephen.

This is a very beautiful plane, I really like what you have done here.
Surely a plane you don’t see every day.

What a stressful build for you! But now you have this seldom bird in you collection, which is a good thing!
I'm glad you persevered!

Cheers,
Frank

Thank you guys for the lovely comments , means a lot to me  :)

Frank , it is nice to add this one to the collection . I'm working on adding different types and right now I have a thing for two seaters . After the FF33 and S.M build it will either be an Albatros C.III or a Bristol Fighter or some totally different  ;)

After seeing this post Alexis I had to go back and review your build in the Construction threads. I don't visit "Resin builds" often enough and was not aware of your efforts to progress this little project. I'm pleased to see you stuck with it. Your model looks great, even if you're not entirely happy yourself with the finished result. What impresses me is that you stuck with it and produced a lovely little replica that you can sit with a coffee and admire. The rigging alone is amazing. And the damaged markings could be attributed to wear and tear. But the overall model is a very attractive accomplishment.
Cheers,
Gary

Thanks for dropping by and checking out the build Gary . Maybe in the distance future I will touch up the personal markings or just add more oil staining .
Again thanks for the kind comments  :)

I have heard that resin kits can be tricky so you have to be happy you managed to get this done, the end result is not bad at all  ;)

Good thing you have overcome the issues of this bad kit. It is allways very delightfull to finish such difficult buids.

Thanks Manni ,

It was harder overcoming the frustration within , that was the real challenge  :)

Like Manni said, overcoming the difficulties should add to your enjoyment of the build, the results you achieved are wonderful. We are always our own worst critic and tend  to give too much thought to the things that we had trouble with during construction, sit back and enjoy!

I've missed commenting on this until now.  It may have put up a fight, but you've finished it in grand style.  Looks great.

Nice result from a difficult kit. I remember the fight it put up for me 25 years ago - goodness knows how much worse the resin bits are by now. Very attractive swan from a sadly ugly duckling!
