Hello,
Since I am very new in this Forum, this is my first try to show one of my models.
I hope everything works, especially the pictures.
I made this little project to honour the pilot Olivier von Beaulieu-Marconnay.
After beeing a member in Bertholds Jasta 18(15), he became the leader of Jasta 19 on September 04, 1918.
Still in Jasta 15 he already flew the D.VII of Rudolf Berthold. The sign of Berthold, the winged sword, could still be seen under the 4D-sign of von Beaulieu-Marconnay. This plane(s) he took later to Jasta 19, and so the formerly red parts became the yellow color of Jasta 19.
Unfortunately during a dogfight on October 18, 1918 Olivier von Beaulieu-Marconnay was hit by friendly fire from a pilot of Jasta 74 in his leg. The Pilot used posphoric-ammunition which at this time was strictly forbidden to use against people.
Within a week Von Beaulieu-Marconnay died upon phosphoric-toxication, just four hours before his dead he became the Pour-Le-Merite for his 26 victories.

Here comes the making-of of the pilots-sign:
1. The sign of Rudolf Berthold is painted freehand
2. over-sprayed with blue color
3. the sign of Von Beaulieu-Marconnay is sprayed with a cut-out stencil.

Hi Michael
Very nice model, good painting job, especially on the ribs, nice shadow effect and Bertholds insignia painted freehand is amazing.
Thank you for sharing this :)
-
Thanks for showing us how you painted the insignia on the fuselage side. Wow! I could never free-hand that! I really like the chipping on the cowling and other yellow areas, and the subtle shading in the blue areas.

I am sad to say that like Alexis I see no photos :(

I am sorry, it seems that most of you can’t see my pictures.
I don’t know what I have done wrong, I started a thread in the feedback section about this problem, and I hope someone can help me.

I know nothing about computers and find them to be confusing at time . I do have an i-phone and was able to view your photo's there . Really nice build and I like how you did the ribbing :)

What Alexis said. And a great base, too.

Hi, now I have re-loaded the pictures in the first post.
Everyone should be able now to see them.
Greetings,
Michael

Now that is an impressive finish; you even got a variable shade on the leather around the cockpit, a nice touch! A lovely model set well on the diorama base.

Ah, great Michael -
Glad you managed to sort out the pictures because this was really worht the wait - excellent work!
Your model DVII actually looked a larger scale displayed on your wonderful base.

I agree with Dave - that looks more like 1/32 scale thn the True Scale. You have incorporated some amazing details - especially the interior and painting. A very worthy tribute to another brave young man.
Please show us more of your excellent models in future.
Stephen.

Thank you all so much for your very kind comments. :)
I am happy that you like my little plane.
Now that I know how the pictures work, I will soon post another one.

Very nice result!

Michael, a blue-yellow Fokker is always a nice addition to a collection, and yours is no exception!
As there is no picture from below, is there lozenge or also blue?
Have you ever visited the Model exhibition in Fürstenfeldbruck? May be we know each other as I have shown my biplanes the last years there.
Cheers,
Frank

It is blue on the lower side.
I had a lot of research about this, and I admit that I am still not 100% sure if it is correct.
I found no picture where I could see a Berthold D.VII from below, so I relied on the sources I had (WNW, Osprey).
When building models in this subject there are so many things you can’t be sure of, sometimes it is necessary to just pick a decision you are feeling good with.
I have been in Fürstenfeld every year, even in 2020. I am sure we know each other, and I know your planes very well, your red/white Bristol is still one of my all-time favourites :)
My club is the PMVA Augsburg and at our exhibition we also had a short conversation about my Me 262 V1 that I displayed there.
See you :)

Very nice model, Michael. The blue and yellow Fokker brought me into WW1 planes. I just love the combination.
The base is fantastic, too. I like it when there is some background information or a photo of the pilot on it.

Oh my goodness, that is very special! Some amazing 1/72 models are appearing in the completed section, I am stunned what you hawk eyed modellers are able to achieve!
