Does anyone here know what engine the replica triplane used in Waldo Pepper used as an engine? I know it’s not an SH14 radial like the kind used on the Blue Max replicas, but I cannot narrow down and confirm from there which engine is correct. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Going at this a bit sideways, many of the aircraft came from the Tallmantz collection. If the DR.I did, this is it:

It is no longer registered as N5523V. I don't know if it still exists
That should be a good start for finding out more

Thanks Richard,
Doing some digging, it seems like the Tallmantz Dr1 was indeed the one used in the film. Warner Scarab engine - I have my answer! :D

Excellent.
So, a Roden 1/32 DR.I, a Gee Bee racer kit for the engine and some Airscale decals and you've got a nice replica of a replica!
