Hi all,
last kit from my WIP archive, finished already, just some quick view, the next one (I hope) will be realtime build :)
DFW C.V was really successful, almost 4000 were built until armistice.
I've chosen Mid version, grenade marking, because I liked "taped" wings and tail surfaces. I used LF model propeller, Taurus accessories (valve springs, spark plugs etc), Gaspatch anemomenter and turnbuckles and HGW seatbelts. Friend of mine prepaired masks for crosses and grenades. Drooling bulldog, GSI paints, oil colors and some pigments were used.
-
Some wood in interior. Base color (some white I thing, not sure :) ), oil paints, Tamiya clear orange and MRP clear flat to seal the job. Then some details just handbrushed and weathering to give some life.
-
Front bulkhead with some details prepared.
-
Bulkhead painted, some wood prepared to fuselage halves.
-
Another beautiful Build. Looking forward to seeing what you did on this one!

Looks like you are off to a very good start - great work on the interior so far.
Chers,

Hi, Martin.
I like Your woodgrain painting very much. Good luck with this build.
-
Many thanks for kind words.
It looks quite morbid to me that pilot sat surrounded by fuel tank :) I tried to replicate some paint scratches and fuel gauge on it. Leather was finished with oil paints. I love how perfect WnW cockpits look just out of the box.

Looks great. You are right about the WNW cockpits. All that is needed is control wires and a Great paint job, both of which you have done well!
RAGIII

Interior fitted with no issues. Continuing with engine.
Replaced pushrods with copper ones, valve springs, added Taurus spark plugs and scratched ingnition wiring gloves.
-
Exhaust pipe thinned, added ignition wiring.
Some basic weathering applied.

Great work. All the goodies and modifications of the engine make it look great.
Looking forward to see your next steps.

Great progress on one of WNWs best kits ever. The DFW is such an elegant machine, sad that there are so few build. So it’s a joy to follow your build. Be careful when rigging this bird. I changed the plastic struts for scratchbuild ones out of brass on my build and didn’t regret the extra work. The DFW of a friend of mine gets bent plastic struts just by the change of the temperature in his show room.

I used original struts, so we'll see ;)
Fuselage closed, added some goodies to engine and fuselage coolers. Drooling bulldog paints were used for basic camo. Cabane struts and landing gear dry-fitted.

Wheels and brake painted, tail surfaces dry-fitted.
-
I Love your Paint Work! The engine and wheel cover chipping is awesome!

Dry-fitted wings brought no issues. I started to paint tail and wing surfaces. Quite time consuming masking job, I tried to replicate internal construction on lower wing surfaces as there is just unbleached linen and tapes around leading and trailing edges.

I added throttle level connection to engine, which is visible on second photo. I also reworked electric generator mount brackets.

The colors are superb as are the subtle structure and wear!

Top work. Absolut beautiful model and so fast.

Hi Manni,
thanks! As I wrote in first note, this model is finished already, this thread is more something like quick review to share my experience. Whole build took me 4-5 weeks from opening the box to put finished model to display case.

WnW kits are almost perfect. With this one I have to mention that there was some piping and other devices on front cabane struts, which could be seen on photos and even on marking drawing in instructions, and was ommited by WnW. I tried to replicate it from scratch.
-
It looks like you succeeded on the piping. Well Done!

Thanks! :)
Some weathering, mainly with oil paints, as usual for me.
-
...
-
Crosses and side grenades airbrushed using masks.
-
And finally some oil and fuel leaks on bottom fuselage.
-
Landing gear attached to fuselage, continuing with weathering.

Not a bad job done here. Not at all!

Looking Fantastic! I like the rib treatment and subtle shading!
RAGIII
-
Great looking weathering!
-
Tail control cables.
-
One wing filtered and weathered to see the difference.
-
Upper surfaces washed and weathered too.
-
Details finished before upper wing mounted.
-
Upper wing and rigging. 1/48 Gaspatch resin turnbuckles, monofilament painted with GSI SM Iron.
-
Continuing to be an excellent revelation of your processes!
