A rigging nightmare think I'll pass on this one and get 2 Bristol fighters instead!!
-
I can't wait to get one. I've seen it made by Jorgo in 1/48 in Lingen EME Germany. So cool. Hopefully they als finish their starstrutter.
Bye Manni

This one is a definate for me!

Yes, please don't forget about the Starstrutter, Edgar!

Darn, what a beauty!
The rigging is very complicated. It looks like a flying spiderweb....
Any idea how much it is going to cost?

No exact price but Edgar said on FB that it would be Cheaper than the Nieuport!!

Thanks Rick,
I'll keep an eye out :o
-
I will definitely buy a Caudron G.III if they produce a 1/48th scale version. I have already purchased CSM's Caudron G.IV kits in both land and float versions.
-
I can hardly wait (Need to clean up the bench…!)
Andreas

That is a thing of beauty! I'm definitely getting one when it comes out!

Makes sense. It has less plastic. It is mainly a wing and tail planes. I will be taking one of these, thank you very much!
-
WOW? It shows a person what Copper State Models can produce. From the comments they should sell a lot kits. With what I have to build I'll pass and await their other releases as they are more my interest. Oh if only they would offer a Hanriot D1. I've read many Italian pilots actually preferred it to the SPAD. I'm kind of concentrating on Austro Hungarian, Italian and Russian aircraft at the present. A Starstrutter would be great.
Say RODEN offer the Austrian Albatros D III ! I have all your different German Albatros Models
-
What a beauty. Clerget motor is available from Lukasz...
I really would love to build it :D
-
Lovely! Bring it on! I don't know if my skills are up to this, but I'm going to give it my best shot! ATB, Marc

OOOOhhh Boy ! For some reason my purse seems to be feeling a lot emptier !

And this is certainly a must-have and a must-build. Long awaited news from CSM, finally!
-
I have to agree, this one does grow on one alright!
Cheers,

I know everyone bemoans the demise of WNW, but I honestly don't think we would have ever seen them do this kit, or the Nie.17's.

Talking to Edgar, he says the Starstrutter kit is still in development but the current 1/32 aircraft production schedule has the Caudron G.III at the head of the queue, due for release in September.
Next after that is the 1/32 Bristol Scout - one of my personal favourites which I hope is a huge seller for CSM.
In essence, Copper State need strong kit sales to finance future projects. So the Starstrutter needs some practical model buying support from us to ensure it is produced. In other words, the kits we buy today fund the kits we want tomorrow.

Thanks Dave for the heads up.
I not being contentious here, but Since the first CAD shots of the Star Strutter, CSM have been able to add more armoured vehicles to their range, finish off their 1:32nd series of Nieuport's and now are launching into a unique three aircraft release.
Yet it seems for what ever reason development of the Star Strutter keeps getting stalled.
I really hope it does see the light of day,
Mike

What if they do a G.IV, too? The possibilities are fantastic.

it is a beauty indeed!
and the release schedule is perfectly timed for Christmas!
sooo, our wallets will be ok as it will be Santa who will bring it to us!

I also hope for a scaling up of their brilliant quarter-scale G. IV to 1:32 :)

Must admit I was a bit lukewarm about this when it was first announced - I tend to like later-war, more fully developed aircraft, rather than "targets" like this. However I'm thoroughly enjoying building a CSM Nieuport and certainly want to keep Edgar in business so he can give us Starstrutters etc in future.
At a price less than the Nies it would be rude not to buy one!
Sandy
-
So ugly its beautiful :) I'm in for one. The rigging is worrisome but that hasnt stopped me buying other WWI a/c. And to make it even better its a CSM kit and they are excellent.

This is the most exciting WWI modeling release in a LONG time for me.
I will be interested to see if Copper State rises to the challenge and provide the modeler with a clear, easy to follow rigging diagram and instructions.
I have said for years WNW dropped the ball with rigging and it is the No. 1 reason a lot of modelers avoid WWI models.
There should be an entirely independent, second instruction manual just for rigging IMO, with each run color coded and labeled, showing in multiple view drawings where the line begins, and where it ends. Break it down 1 line at a time and it's not that difficult.
The installation order should be suggested making it easy to get everything where it needs to be. The Caudron in particular demands this. Reminds me of the Fe.2b from WNW.
If you start your rigging in the wrong place on a plane like this Caudron, you'll never get enough access to where other lines need to go, and it's not as easy as you might think; it's easy to rig yourself into a corner, especially with THIS level of complexity.
Copper State, are you reading this!?

I agree that it is the most exciting release in the recent months, if not years. Finally something with lots of rigging.
And as for the latter, I cannot agree that WNW "dropped the ball with rigging". Me, I find their schemes clear and extensive. Combined with clearly marked holes in the elements it was just fine for me. Very rarely I needed extra photographic material. If so, it was rather for learining, where the turnbuckles were not, where the lines go. But even on those rare ocassions I found it a fine part of the hobby, to decipher some little riddles.
And where to start - generally from the centre outwards, adding the lines symmetrically not to spoil the geometry :)
-
It is so ugly it is beautiful, definitively will get one. The Star Struter and Hanriot will also be on my list for different reasons. One being unusual and the other being flown by the Belgian Air Force. About the rigging, not an issue, I have just finished the 1/100 Heller Soleil Royal!
-
I do agree with my old timer Preze!
Also, learning from masters helps understanding how to build and the right sequences to rig.
sooooo, can’t wait to see what your build will tourn out!

During the war, airplane riggers said that if you put a chicken between the tail booms of the Caudron and she does not find a way to scape, it was complete. When photographing the one at the RAF Museum I had to creep under the tail booms to take pics of the cockpit. ;D

How is this project coming along?
Looking forward to it
Thanks

Thanks Dave.
Looking at the first shot it looks as though CSM have managed to reproduce the transparency of the wing trailing edge, similar to that of the Wingnut Wings 'Taube' model.
This model will be a great addition for any WW1 aircraft modeler,
Mike
-
Thank you, Dave. It is going to be a hit!
Well, modeling-wise the end of this year is to be spectacular.

:) Looks Even better then the 3D- renderings. Wonderful!

Is there any updated info. on this kit?
I see it is now scheduled to be 3 or 4 months late.
Will we actually be able to buy it in December?

Ringleheim, may I recommend you contact Edgar Liepinsh, the „head“ of Copper State Models? Not only should he be able to answer your question, he also surely will (as he can), because he is such a friendly guy!

It's just gorgeous!

I wish CSM every success with this beautiful bird!

Thanks to Edgar and Slava,
today I received a first sample of the Caudron and it is fantastic - I will post more pictures in the next days

I've pre-ordered mine as well. This looks amazing as do all of CSM's kits.
Can not wait to get it in my hands

Hi all,
It's good to see moulded clear parts instead of acetate sheet windscreens some manufacturers use,
Mike
-
A moulded part is may be easier to handle but often total out of scale in thickness.
So I prefer the acetate screens but with a PE frame, as provided for example with the CSM Sopwith Dolphin kit. That was a wonderful in scale solution, even with additional PE levers!
Cheers,
Frank
-
Hi Frank,
I agree, but then a flat windscreen is a lot easier to create using photo-etch and acetate than a curved windscreen.
That said, acetate screens are definitely more in scale for thickness,
Mike
-
order placed!
can't wait...

That looks fantastic, and the schemes are quite interesting, too. I'm really, really torn on this one... It's interesting, quirky and right up my alley, but I hadn't thought about how big it actually is!
-
I'm definitely going to get one of these!
-
Alright, so a friend of mine (also a G.III fan) has been following the development of this kit very closely and recently advised he's bought two: one for him, and one as payment for me building his. :o :o
I'm not religious but please pray for me.
-
Does anyone know the latest on when this kit will actually be available for purchase?
I see it's already a month behind schedule.
-
Ringleheim, you could ask Edgar Liepinsh, Copper State Models' head (and soul), directly.
-
Hi all,
My Caudron kit arrived today (UK).
I have to say the sprue parts, decals and manual (with a separate poster) look amazing.
CSM kits in my opinion are up there with WNW kits,
Mike
-
Very excited to pick this one up and its in my favorite scale to boot!
-
I got the notification today that my kit is in the mail. BIG smile … :)
Andreas
-
Oooh, I expect to see some new builds when I get back on Boxing Day! ;D
-
I received an email the other day stating that my GIII was mailed. :)
-
mine arrived yesterday, i had a quick peek inside: the parts are up to par with the Nieuport models (absolutley great!) the aircraft is a stringbag like the the FE2.b. the instructions for the rigging are the best i've ever seen. wholeheartedly recommended!!
-
I'm going to be the heretic and say it just doesn't do it for me. It looks very well done. I'm glad it's popular with the forum members and sells well. For my sins I will buy a couple of CSM armoured cars and wait for the next couple of A/C kits which I AM looking forward to!!
Steve
-
Arrived yesterday. Very nice kit. Rigging will be the biggest challenge. Can be built with a radio set or bombs. Has several marking options in both linen and gray schemes. In my kit, there was the complimentary print for pre-porduction order as well as an extra decal sheet with additional options.
-
As well as all of the above, mine has an extra instruction book!
The plastic looks very good indeed……
-
I'm really excited for the 1/32nd guys! Beautiful kit, and much needed. Now, if I could get someone to do one in 1/72nd. ::) :)
WD

Our friends at Choroszy Modelbud do a beautiful Caudron in 1/72………..resin of course but that’s ok.

I'm so, so excited to read of forumites receiving their Caudrons! Bring on the builds!

Received mine here in NZ today. Beautifully presented kit/contents. Rigging diagrams are very comprehensive but think I'll feel like a fish stuck in a net when I get amongst it all!
