Title: Transfer / Decal "brightness"
Post by: 6992 on February 25, 2021, 09:34:03 AM
Have applied some transfers / decals and to me they just look too bright / shiny. Any advice about dulling them down a bit - taking the gloss off them ?

If I still feel they’re too bright after applying the flat coat I’ll add a highly thinned layer of tamiya buff or a light grey over the entire surface to blend them in.

Remember highly thinned as you don’t want to change the hue of the model.

Thanks - sounds like a plan  :) - I'll do some experiments with that.

Sorry for the late comment on this one, but wanted to add to the suggestion already made. Take a diluted mix of the background colour and over-spray the decal with that. With markings over camouflage, it could be a bit tricky - but one of the dominant colours may work.
Cheers,
