Title: RODEN 1/48th FOKKER DVII
Post by: miamiangler on December 16, 2012, 10:57:20 AM

I started this build back in Feb. It`s not the easiest DVII  to build  with it`s fit problems and soft plastic.I paid 20 dollars for the kit so I wont complain much. Here`s some photo`s so far.

Looks great. And you're right, the kit is not the easiest I've seen.

Hi Rick,

So you are still in N.C. :).  I still remember the good old day`s at Warrick`s . I just got into WW1 because of the Swanny`s contest .I had the Special Hobbies kit of the Lloyd in my stash for a few years and probably have never built it if it was not for the contest.

Now I`m building up my stash of WNW Kits and getting ready to build a few next year :) . I have a few builds going on in the LSP site an Arado 196 and He162.

Hi Rick:

Looking good.  The PE work on the guns is nicely done as well.  I have always liked this scheme.  Looking forward to seeing you progress through this build.

Best

Mark

Keep up the good work! Can you say something more about the fitting problems since I have Roden`s DVII in my stash.

The lower wings are very tight and have to be sanded to get them level with the Fuselage. The small parts break easy so care has to be taken when removing them from the sprues. Getting the cowling to fit is a night mare .Other then that it goes together fairly well .O and decals are brittle . I used the Techmod and Eduard decals on this build .  If you have an Eduard Fokker DVII I would build that first !

Small update :

I completed the top wing so it will be mounted on the A/C very soon. The prop has been decaled and has 5 coats of clear gloss sprayed on . I added the seat with painted seatbelts and added the hand grips to the fuselage along with the foot step.

Yes I have started work on the engine ,`m doing the 200HP engine with the works (plumbing and wiring ) I have been in contact with Taurus models .My Wife is in Poland visiting her son  and will be getting me the resin sets I need for a few of  my WNW A/C . Even a new set that is not on the market yet to be used on the Fokker DVII.As soon as I have the set in my hands I will post the photo`s asap!

Nice work Willi, that Mauve is very attractive on this beast! I've commented in the past that Roden should change Decal suppliers, always disappointing in an otherwise very decent Kit. Your lozenge looks great and you are doing an excellent job on this one!
Cheers,
Lance :)
