Hi everyone!
Greetings from Brazil!
I finished this one yesterday after some months with no production.
I normally build 1/32 WW1 aircraft but I really like this bird (or fish, or whale... I dunno...) so I got the 1/48 kit.
It builds nicely and the fishscales go on pretty well with Microsol and Set.
The kit is profipack and built OOB.

I moved the control surfaces. Did this buy scribing the parts without actually removing them. Just enough to move them up and down.

What a beautiful Walfisch Marco! The finish is superb, the weathering very well applied and realistic, IMHO. I really like the way this looks! ;D Great job!
I'm with you--I love this aeroplane, but I really want it in 1/32. I believe it's only a matter of time. :D Perhaps I should follow your lead and build the Eduard 1/48 kit for fun, as an hors d'oeuvres for the bigger one! ;)

Bob

Thank you, Bob.
Even after building this one I would still like a 1/32. No doubt about that! :)

She's absolutely stunning, Marco! The weathering and shading are brilliantly done. Superb job on the decaling, as well.
Cheers,

Merry Christmas too!
The weathering was done with diluted Burnt Umber oil paint over a gloss finish. Left it to dry a bit and then cleaned it off with tissue paper in the airflow direction.
One other thing is that I preshaded before painting the blue. I think that this preshading blended with the weathering ending in the overall effect.

the preshading before applying the oils looked more-or-less like what I did with the Gotha:

Very nice, Marco. As the others said, the weathering is very well done. That Gotha is also a good looking build.
Cheers.

Great job Marco - this scheme has always intrigued me as it could slip into a Japanese Manga film/comic very easily.
You have produced a fine bird ;)
