Title: Albatros D.III versus D.V(a) fuselage cross sizes
Post by: jeroen_R90S on October 09, 2020, 12:42:50 AM
Does anyone know if the (Johannisthal built) Albatros D.III had the same size "iron" fuselage crosses as the D.V(a)?
I'm looking to replace my Roden crosses with those from a left-over D.V set (WnW) and was wondering if they should be the same. They do look very similar!

I don't see why not . Wasn't this a standard size ?

As far as I know (which isn't a lot about Albatrosen!) the proportions of the cross itself were standard... I remembered I had the Pheon " Voss" decals and the fuselage cross is pretty much the same. The tail cross is different, but the Pheon one does not have the white outline as the tail is Jasta 2 white. It does look a bit skinny too, but that could be due to the missing outline I'm used to seeing.
The Roden one does look much bigger and fatter, hence my confusion. I wonder if the Albatros Datafile special (which I don't have, unfortunately) shows this on their drawings...
