Title: Sopwith Pup, A1 61Sqn (1/32, RIP Wingnut Wings)
Post by: PrzemoL on May 06, 2020, 05:28:18 AM
This is the model which I originally bought only to accompany the fantastic wooden propeller from ProperPlanes (thank you Alex) which I got as a prize in the Des' memory GB. Initially I was not fully convinced to building a seemingly boring Sopwith. Still, while working on it I started to like this model and the aircraft, too. Well, Pup has some appeal, no doubt about it.
So here it is - my vision of A1 from 61 HD Sqn, dated at September 1917.

As noted, she is a real beauty Pryzemo!  Very clean and precise build, and a lovely model for display.  Very well done.

Best regards,

Well now, if that isn't graphic evidence that I have a whole lot to learn about building models, I don't know what is.

That is an extremely fine build. You took a state of the art kit and improved it on every level. It is a real treat to look at.

What, done already?
This model is once again a proof of your great skills and the quality of the WWN kits. I really like the paint work.
And yes, even a "simple" Pup has some appeal.

Cheers,
Frank

She's simply stunning, Przemo!  For not being a fan of the Pup initially, you certainly approached this project with your usual TLC.  I love the Pup, have 2 1/48 and 2 WNW already built and plan on building 2 more.  Great little kite.
Cheers,
Bud

Beautifullly done, Przemol.  I think the engine, prop, and cowling are the highlights of of this model.

It's a funny thing, I didn't think I would like the Gnome Pup but looking at yours is a real treat the cowl really changes it up it looks nicely different from all the other pups out there.
Well done.

I for one am pleased that you won that propellor because it caused you to make another of your super models! I have seen amy Pup models but none gets close to this - a winner in every way.

What a beatiful Pup! I will use your build and pictures as inspiration to finish my own and maybe add a little bit more of weathering on the underside...

What a gorgeous model -the scheme itself is somewhat plain, but it makes all the details really stand out! I'm especially fond of the oil staining on the firewall, that shows up very nice with this type cowling :)

Beautiful as always Prze, you never disappoint! The finish is spectacular and the extra rib details on the fuselage really add to the realism of the model. Another spectacular addition to your display cabinet.
Cheers,
Lance

Now this is truly inspiring. I’m reading “No Parachute” by Arthur Gould Lee at the moment and Pups are on my mind constantly, it’s really an amazing read. I’ve dug mine out and am going to get cracking on it very soon. I’ll enjoy referring to your gorgeous example! Thanks for sharing!

That's a beautiful build.  I especially like the prop.  And the wood struts also look great.  ...and the subtle weathering/oil streaking underneath.  It's there, but not over done.
