Hi folks - I just completed Wingnut Wings kit of the Roland D.VIa which was a marvelous model to construct. I used Aviattic decals set ATTROL32118 four colour faded lozenge, and added Master barrels and cooling jackets to the guns. The build started out as kit option no. "E" from Jasta 23b, but became the factory-delivered version of that aircraft, before the personal stripes and colours had been added - I decided to stick with the all-blonde wooden fuselage. I altered the serial number on the decal sheet to help with that scenario.
The figures are from Model Cellar, painted with Vallejo acrylics. I had to alter the mechanic's head position (after my posted photo in the Construction section) to make him look more animated, and less like a "Ken doll".
Thanks for looking in!
Cheers,
Gary

Please tell me that you substituted real wood in the fuselage and just led us all by the nose in the build log.... The log was really fun to follow but the completed model and figures are something else again. Many congratulations on a super model.

What a lovely model. It captures so nicely the essence of Roland D.VI with Tarnstoff and Klinkerrumpf.

Wow, what a beautiful model. The wooden construction is incredibly realistic, love the figures too. Seriously impressive, love it!

Great work. I love the panel nail lines. I couldn't drive a line of nails that straight and even in full size. The wash or whatever you use to get that bit of dark around metal edges and nuts and bolts is just right, not over or under done. That is one fine model.
