I built both of these at the same time. The Nieuport 17 is an Eduard kit and the 21 is a Revell/Eduard kit bash.
-
A very nice pair of Nieuports,I can't imagine working in 1/72 scale on such small aircraft.Well done!
Dave.

First the Nieuport 21. Most of this was from the Revell kit scraps left over from my youth. Eduard kits provide an extra wing, cowling, machine gun and PE machine gun mount. The engine came from a scrap Revell Morane Saulnier N. Basically I did not have to sacrifice any full kits to build the Nieuport 21.

Cockpit was scratch built. Seat was from blackbird models. Seat belts from Eduard. All struts were thinned down from the Revell kit. Rigging was Nitinol .059 wire. Decals are Print scale Russian aces of WW1.

Model depicts aircraft of the 7th AOI Dobrovody AB Podhaice/Ukraine, Southwest Front May 1917. I could have sanded down the wing ribs a bit more but overall this was a simple conversion. Some of the struts had to be adjusted. It was simply a model put together with extra parts.

The Nieuport 17 was OOB Eduard. Vallejo model air Russian green and model air Armor brown were used for the wing camouflage. Rigging was with Nitinol wire. Overall I enjoyed these two builds.

Thank you for the kind comment Dave and I forgot to mention that the Window screen was PE on both kits.

A terrific pair of Nieuports! Really great use of spares to build the Beautiful 21!

Very nice work, this reminds me I still have the Eduard 1/72 Dual Combo Ni-17 that I need to finish someday -thanks for the inspiration :)

Nice to see the classic scale getting some attention. A lot of work clearly went into these beauties. You really cracked the silver finish. How did you find the Print Scale decals? I have some, but have yet to use them.
Cheers

A little delicate but fairly good. Many of the kits I have in the stash have deteriorated decals so I have lots of after market ones.

VERY nice work on the pair, brings back fond memories of when I could work comfortably in this scale a long time ago. I have to admit not at the level that you have done here. My compliments, a beautiful pair of classics!
Cheers,
Lance

Thank you for the nice comments. I will build in this scale as long as I can.

How nice to see a conversion! And in the correct scale too. A super pair of models and beautifully finished too.
Stephen.
