Hello
A very beautiful achievement. The appearance of the wood is very well represented.
Congratulations

The Dr. is in, and I would say that the operation was successful with beautiful results.

Great build, Dave.
The wood looks very natural. Top.

I like the wood tones and at last, a pilot in the cockpit!
-
As I have mentioned elsewhere, Gorgeous Albatros! Excellent work all around. Thanks again for the inspiration!!

That is a crakingly good model. The oil and other stains on the underside are very convincing and the wood finish is just right. Many congratulations on a super model.
Stephen.

Beautiful Dave, a really nicely done model. I admire your wood finish; can you share what base and wood paints/colors you used?
Cheers,
Lance

Wow Dave , now that is totally awesome !

Very fine Albatros. I like your wood rendition and weathering is spot on, too.
-
I agree - the wood effects are really neat and the tones are lovely. Cheers Matt

Very sharp!!

Thanks everyone. I use enamel washes for wood grain as it's quicker and tougher than oils. This only took half an hour, seriously.
Gloss white base. Futured. Mig enamel wood wash slopped on, then go to work with a fan tip brush, wiggling it a bit. Blast with hairdryer, then future, then a spray of clear orange and smoke, then future.

Great looking Albatros, Dave, Thanks for sharing your technique.

Great Build. Like others have said, I like the wood effect - very well done. and the oil streaking is a nice touch too.

Wow! Great model and the wood tones on the fuselage are jaw-droppingly outstanding. If time permits, we would really appreciate a tutorial on how you achieved such a realistic finish. I use artist's oils but your wood finish is just superb.
Many thanks for sharing this with us.

I'll see what I can do!
It's very easy though.
