Hello All,
I present my entry into this GB. Something a little different for me this time as I'm venturing back to 1/48 scale for the first time in years. Some of you might know of my attraction to Austro-Hungarian aircraft , my choice is the Flashback Aviatik-Berg D.I (Lo) series 115. Having a good number of AH types in the stash gave me plenty of choices to choose from and in the end chose something simple to enter. Or at least I hope so.
The Kit:

(http://i514.photobucket.com/albums/t342/GJouette/Berg%20D%20I/IMG_2386_zpsq8npdatq.jpg) (http://s514.photobucket.com/user/GJouette/media/Berg%20D%20I/IMG_2386_zpsq8npdatq.jpg.html)
The camouflage colors just doesn't look kosher to my eyes , so I'll likely go with aftermarket decals. I also don't care much for the kit supplied Austro-Daimler so doing something about that as been added to the list. Updates soon.

Excellent choice Gregory! LOVE these AH aircraft. Looking forward to your build.

Mark,
Many thanks my old friend. I came very close to going with the Sierra Aviatik Berg C.I for this GB. Thought I'd have a better chance of finishing before the deadline with a injection kit rather than a vacuform. Saving those AH vacuforms in 1/48 scale for a later time.

The Aviatik Berg is one of my favourite, I will follow with great interest. Good luck!

Hi Gregory,
A great choice and an aircraft not often made.
I have the HPH 1:32 scale model which I've not started yet, so I'll be following your build with great interest,

Great choice Gregory, I have the same kit and I'm curious to see how it gets built!

Antonio,Mike and Alistair,
Thanks fella's. I'm working on the poor Austro- Daimler today. I've sawed off the cylinders and will need to scratch new ones. It won't be 100% correct but far better than the supplied original. Keeping my fingers crossed still hoping for a quick simple build.

I will wathc with great interest, because I have exactly the same kit in my stash and want to know what needs to be fixed during the build.
Good luck and have fun!

Excellent choice of subject. I can't count how many times that I have had this kit in my hands only to talk myself out of building it. I'm pleased to see that you are taking on the challenge.

Very interesting subject, looking forward to your progress.

Frank,
Thanks for looking in my friend. When you get around to your Berg both the camouflage decals and awful resin engine will need replacing.

Guy,
You may well be right my old friend. I'm not really looking forward to fitting the camouflage pattern around the nose. Thank you for the well wishes.

Afternoon All,
Small update time. I've began scratch building the upper part for my Austro-Daimler using a cast metal one from one of my Sierra Vacuform kits. Not trying to be 100% accurate but to approximate the AD's general arrangement. As always any and all comments are welcomed and appreciated.
Austro-Daimler (ish) 200 HP.

The small dark objects in lying on the pad are the beginnings of valve springs.

A few more details added:

Mounted the plugs, but still debating whether I'll wire them or not. I do have a new spool of 42 GA. wire that may work.
The beginnings of the wooden interior.

That's all for now. Thanks for looking.

The Aviatik D I is a lovely airplane, you made a great choice and a great start in my opinion. this will be another little jewel.

Your path on how you are doing the details is an excellent choice . Since only the top half of the engine will be seen , unless you open up a few panels . Your details so far are super 8)

Great choice Gregory! a lot of interesting paint schemes to choose from.
I built the same kit and I think the weakest part of it is the wing fabric representation. The infamous "hills and valleys" effect.
Looking forward to seeing more.

I am a bit slow as per usual Gregory - so please be patient. I really like your choice of subject - one of the less well known types. A fantastic start showing your usual attention to very fine detail. I am looking forward to dropping by in future to see how this progresses.

Rick,
Many thanks my old friend. Still working on her engine at present. In a temporary fit of insanity I decided to add plug wiring, starting to wish I hadn't. Using 42 GA. wire just doesn't look right.
