Your Albatrosses look awesome, Rick. The wooden surface is just perfect, no need to worry in my opinion. I am keen on seeing these on their wheels!

A quick photo update. I added the crosses to the fuselage and tail. This weekend I hope to add the gear and perhaps do some weathering....also some work on the Dolphin.

Still awesome what you are doing! I personally would have painted the whole fuselage in wood colors and oils or wood decals and would have added the yellow and red bands afterwards (and possibly ruined the wooden finish with masking tape...). I have to give your method a try!

Thanks Andreas. I used to do things exactly as you said right up to and including lifting the wood finish with tape. So I experimented with the bands on the DIII and it worked well enough to do the same on the DV.
