I applied the roundels to the upper wing. Like Many before me with the last couple of WNW releases I had a small amount of difficulty with the decals. I had to use a combination of heat, future, and Micro Sol to get them to lay down. On one aileron all went well initially then when I looked later the whole right corner, about 1/4 of an inch all the way across the corner, was gone! I was able to use the Valejo blue that seems to match very well, to touch up.

That's a fortunate and nicely executed recovery Rick! Has anyone queried Wingnut Wings on these recurrent decal problems? They have obviously changed something as their decals used to be terrific.
Cheers,
Lance

Thanks Lance. As for reporting the issues to WNW I don't know. I do know Many have reported cracking and breaking as well as issues with the decals conforming to ribs, in particular the Camel and Dolphin roundels.

This is looking even better at every update. Decals touch ups are invisible.

Thanks for the comment. I went back and looked this morning and I must admit I exaggerated a bit. The missing piece was only about 1/8th of an inch across the corner. Still annoying!

Roundels look great!  I've never been really comfortable with large decals, usually modelling in 1/48.  These 1/32 nat'l markings stretch my sensitivities a bit.

Thanks Gaz. As for Large roundels I have built the Snipe and SE5a and had No Issues. Many others have built DH9, Ninaks, FE2bs, DH2s etc. with no issues. It seems that with the release of the Camels suddenly there was a difference in how the WNW roundel decals perform. Some have had No Issues but many more have!

With my Triplane, I didn’t have any roundel issues, but I did have a lot of issues with rudder blazes. Both the kit ones and the pair i’ve nabbed from the RFC Pup kit refuse to settle down and got very brittle when trying to coax them! I have a Pheon set for a Pup to try at some point. Your repair is excellent, you’d never know by looking.

Thanks for the comment on the repair. Come to think of it I also built a Triplane with No Roundel issues  8) As for the rudder stripes I have been in the habit of painting them for years. Never could get any decals to look quite right...by any Manufacturer  :-[

I added the upper wings today. It took about 15 to 20 minutes to place the struts in place, slide the wing panels on, and then use Tamiya Extra thin Cement to glue.

I also added the exhaust , windscreen, and gunsight.
