Hawker Typhoon Mk.1b. Airfix 1/72nd scale
« on: June 21, 2023, 02:29:24 PM »
My latest completion. OOB Airfix 1/72nd Hawker Typhoon Mk.1b. This is a really nice kit with No Issues. I am really enjoying building these later releases by Airfix. All Markings are kit decals including leading edge yellow ID and black white stripes. Paints were Tamiya Acrylics with Oils and Valejo worked in for layering of colors.

Top class work on your Airfix Typhoon, Rick.

The new Airfix kits are good (I'm currently building their 1/48 Hurricane) but I find that assembly has to be precise to ensure correct fit and alignment.   They can be generally a tight fit anyway.

Regards

Dave
As we say in fencing, what's the point!

Nice work, Rick.  The weathering is very good.  One can't tell it's in 1/72 scale.

Thanks Dave! Yes the build must be precise on these kits. The only time I had difficulty with any of them was when I thought I knew better than the Directions  ::)

Thanks Fredrik! No, I have not finished The BoB! I have had trouble procuring a Revell Ju88 A-1( I have one on the way now) and also need to get an Arma Hurricane. I ran out of stuff to work on so built the Typhoon to keep busy.

I've had my eye on a Junkers Ju88 for some time now.
I'm certainly interested in how the Revell version builds up.

Great Tiffy! Recently finished Day of the Typhoon and it was amazing to read about the high loss rates the Typhoons suffered even with complete control of air space.

Lovely Typhoon there Rick, looks more like a 1/48 kit. Looking forward to the BoB Ju88 and Wildcat too.

Thanks Steve. Yes they did lose a lot of Typhoons.

Thanks for that very kind comment Richie, starting soon. By the way I am working on this also. Not Strictly BoB but representative of a Type used.:

Excellent work on the Tiffy RAGman! I'm rather partial to that squadron purely for personal/vanity reasons  ;D
