Title: WNW Fokker D.VII (OAW) Willhelm Leusch
Post by: Adam on November 26, 2014, 11:50:41 PM
For quite some time I do this model, but most of the time I spent with the Nieuport 17.
To the model I bought extras such as shown in the pictures.

On the fuselage have a plan to paint a lozenge using MONTEX masks, so that it shone through the blue like a cross.
The instructions does not have the numbers paint colors in the internet I found only Methuen numbers. Maybe someone know numbers paints e.g FS.., Humbrol...?

As always, start with the cockpit.

Here is woodgrain painting test using Edwuards masks for wood. I done it together with Nieuport.

Brilliant start, Adam.  You've made excellent progress and everything looks magnificent.  I like the effect of the wood grain mask.

Friends, thank you for your kind words, they add me strength to struggle with this model.  :)

Bo, maybe you're right to move this topic to the group build, I see that now is  discussion to extend the duration of the project, but I think you're done your earlier Fokker.  ;)

How can I join to GB?
Adam.

A long long time ago, work on this model have been suspended.
The reason was to finish the Nieuport 17

and the AC / NC-123K Black Spot from the Vietnam War.

Now it's time to finish this model.
Because the I spend a lot of time on business trips that I had little time to work on this model and still less time for the presentation of what I did, I'm sorry.

Now, a short report from what I did.

flight instrument panel looks like that.

Compass.

The cockpit and the rest mounted.

To the test to see how it looks with the engine.

Now time for the engine, will be used additives fromTaurus.
I think that nothing will slow down work on this model.

Adam.

Thank you my friends for the good word.  :)
I decided to make small upgrade of the engine.  ;)
To set the levers of valves had to be cut timing gear.  :o

Then I made holes for the  axles .

Then I made holes in the levers.

Timing system was reassembled again.  ;D

The levers are ready for installation.

Whole timing gear has been mounted to the engine.

Now they have been installed valve springs.

Now is the time for the spark plugs.

Then came time for the installation of wiring.

Above you can see small tragedy,  :'(  the two spark plugs have chosen the freedom.  :-X

The engine is almost ready.

That nothing more is not lost, I did such a case. The inspiration was this image taken from Wngnuth.

(http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv186/AlbatrosDIII/Fokker%20D%20VII%20OAW/mDaimler-Mercedes%20D.III%20160hp%20early%20with%20air%20pump%20E48%20at%20rear%200978-040_zpsp0qjci6o.jpg)

And now I can safely proceed to further work on my model.  ;D

Adam.

This is a cable from the electrical coil, when connected to a spark plug was painted.
I thank my friends for your opinions.  ;D

And now the relation with what I did.
Preparation for shading wings.

Encouraged good your opinions I bought decals AVIATTIC.
They look great but are very demanding in applying.
I recommend you read the manual before gluing and not during the gluing, as I did.

And now result.

All the plates were painted silver to make them scratched later.

Now it's time for the exhaust pipe. So far I've done models with rotary engines but they have not have such pipes.
Someone here gave his method of painting exhaust pipes, but I can't remember who, sorry.  :-[
I remembered a little of this, and I present what I done.

At the beginning I did a test on the pipe from the right.

did a terrific job of the engine's supporting "box"!

Thank you for your kind words, my friends.
A lot of time has passed since my last post.
Many business travel slowed work on this model.
Lack of time did not allow a mine to show pictures of the construction of the model, I'm very sorry.  :'(
The fuselage is painted and decals are affixed.

Now it's time to complete the fuselage.

Now my Fokker got the engine and radiator. Pictures will be soon.

My Polish colleagues asked me not to hide the engine behind covers.
Therefore, I decided to make a small diorama, I will be doing it the first time.  :o
I bought from my colleague, known here set Aviattic's WW1 German crew refueling and fuel WW1 German cart.
The project of it I have in my mind.  ;) but I'll be asking for yours help also.

Adam.

Adam,
The shading and over painting of the fuselage is excellent; you've really produced a realistic effect and the decaling fits in perfectly. Not an easy colour scheme to replicate but you've done it beautifully, nice work and I'm looking forward to seeing the final results!

Your opinions motivate me to continue to work, thank you very much.

Time to make the stings for my model. As usual, it is already proven additions from the MASTERS.

Landing gear installed without glue, to check that everything fits.

The next step is the completion and installation of the upper wings.

A great build - good photos as well!

The more I see of these Fokker D.VII builds, the lines of the aircraft & in particular the often colourful markings - the more I regret that the kits are out of production. I'll no doubt be thinking the same about the Albatross D.Va soon as well :(

Russell

My dear friends, RAGIII, Borsos, Łukasz, Gary, Ernie, coyotemagic, Des, Manni, FarEast, Ed, Edo, Russell, xmald and Gregory  ;D thank you very much for your kind words.

My Fokker is almost finished, I have to make a few details.
Magazine cartridges for flare and flare gun itself.
I do not know how flare gun was mounted to the side of the fuselage, on the pictures I can't see this exactly, maybe someone of you help.
Now the last pictures of my Fokker, because it flew in the autumn of 1918 so it is muddy, maybe a little too much.

Yet I noticed that I should improve of the propeller painting , but here I am waiting for the inspiration creative.

Now I can start diorama.
Des whether I have to start a new thread with the diorama?

As the Chinese proverb says, to take a long march must take the first step.
And this is my first step in making dioramas, funnel.  ;D
