1/48 Morane Saulnier MS A1
« on: September 10, 2012, 12:04:37 AM »
Dodgy Special Hobby kit. I can't fault Special Hobby on their choice of subjects, but their execution leaves something to be desired.

I can see from the photos that the oil pulsater tube/dome is way too big and will need to be replaced.
Does any one have a sure fire way of making these? I made this one by heating a clear chewing gum blister package and sticking a straight pin in it. the frosty appearance at the base is caused by the white glue that I used to attach it still being quite wet when I took the photos.

Outstanding beginnings, Rob.  Excellent wood grain and the cockpit looks fantastic.
Cheers,
Bud

Thanks Bud. The kit is turning out to be more of a challenge than I anticipated (a recurring theme in my model building pursuits). I appreciate the encouragement.

I'm rooting  for you also.  :)

I hope that you have better luck with  that poorly enginered  kit than I had with it .
Mounting the wing acurately  can  a real challange for one thing.

looking quite nice so far. i make oil pulsator glass from clear sprue. heat stretch the sprue like one normally would. i then cut off with cutter the segment with the proper diameter. then i sand the cut into a rounded end. i use finer and finer grades up to 12000. this polishes it to a sheen. afterward cut the appropriate length with a razor saw and attach to model. i got the sanding pads from micro mark. but you can also get sanding sticks with this fine grade. also the emory board type nail buffer/polishers from the drug store do the same thing.

Nice work Rob, the seat looks great and you've got a great wood effect for your cockpit.

Thanks for the comments, encouragement, and advice. I'm on vacation this week and plan to spend some quality time at the model desk. Hopefully, I'll have some more progress photos by the end of the week.

I have the engine finished, the fuselage closed up, and the empenage attached. I am in the middle of cleaning up seams restoring surface details. I'll try to get some photos up shortly.
