Roland D VIb upper wing control horn cutout finish
« on: December 14, 2015, 10:23:42 AM »
Does anyone know what the Roland DVIb  aileron control horn cutouts in the upper wing should look like? My best guess is that the cutout is boxed in wood and the control horn rests on/in some type of steel carrier . If so would the cutout sides be varnished? Covered in linen? Something else? I realize it's not very visible but I'd still like to get it right.

Red Baron,
That makes sense. After posting my question I took another look through my copy of the datafile (#37) for the Roland. On page 27 is a pretty clear shot of the upper wing controls. The inside area is curved on the end vice square indicating metal vice wood. All the other exposed metal fittings are grey-green so that checks too.
Thanks for your quick reply
