Albatros D.III Oeffag 253 1/48 Eduard
« on: March 29, 2015, 05:36:30 AM »
Hello guys!!!

So here we are!!! I've been home almost a week and was rather busy (that would explain my poor performance with reading comments and so on), I built photobox (thanks goes to Bo for his great tutorial), I've been experimenting with oils and pencils on woodgrain(thanks to the rest for tutorials and inspiration) and decided that I need something to practise it... Oeffag won it because It should be rather quick(unfortunatelly I wont be staying on the same place for too long) and because practise makes it "perfect" for my WNW stash :D
Just an quick intro to what I've been doing... or what I started :)

photo above shows my 20dollar photobox with 15dollar Oeffag :)

It is such a lovely little kit... looks quite cute compare to the size of WNW :D

Hello guys!!!

So, here we go again... after lovely week in "sunny" London I was finally able to return in hot seat and get some stuff done. It is hard though as Im also working on my Aussie visa application and that need to be done properly...
Anyway, I finished seat, re-painted wood in cockpit - thanks to Hellboy and good point that Albatros wasnt made out of dark wood, thanks Hellboy ;) painted exhausts aka what can be achieved by combineing Bertlīs idea with my hands...

Im about to paint wings, so hopefully some pictures will be sooner than last time... using HGW decals for linen... I really wanted to use Aviattic but due to my funds limit they will have to wait for proper scale :D

Happy modelling!!!

The wood looks great, as does the metal of the exhausts.  Nice work!

Great start, Lukas.  That seat and exhaust look fantastic.  This is a wonderful kit with no vices.  I've built two and have a few more in the stash, so I know you're gonna have a blast building it.
Cheers,
Bud

Hello guys!!!

Firstly, thank you for your warm comments and second Im ready with second batch of progress :) This time before closing fuselage (currently drying and closed already), Ive changed tone of wood by using brown filter(thanks to Hellboy again for advice :) ), dashboard will be on pictures of closed fuselage as I forotten about it... On engine I used 3 different techniques for Aluminium - Bertl style, using Uschi powder and polished aluminium from Alclad production :) Well... here we go!!!

It was lovely day... I have a propeller in progress and looking into attaching cowling tomorrow... also my Special Hobby Bristol M.1C arrived :)
Happy modelling and lovely evening!!!
