Hi just thought I'd add this old bird.
Encores DII kit converted into a OAW configuration, it turned froma *I need a DII in my Albi likne up* into a labour of love. Research and determination to get it as right as I could. Inspired by the great GvW's article on DII camo on the aerodrome. *edited to hide my own faux pas ::)
Anyway a few shots of her.

Thank you for bringing this beauty back out for us, Keith. I enjoyed watching her develope on the 'drome. But, when did Greg go west? I just saw him in October. I knew we lost Peter Grosz and DSA, but Greg, too? Man, I hope not.
Cheers,
Bud

Damn this old brain and thick head, apologies I got Greg and Dan mixed up. Dont ask why or how, it's awfully fuddled in this head of mine somedays. :-[

No worries, mate. Mine works much the same as yours, these days. Just glad you got 'em mixed up.

I just got a D-III and I can only hope it turns out close to that!
Excellent and thanks for sharing.

Very nice indeed! Did you freehand the soft edged camouflage or did you use masks standing off from the surface?
Cheers,

Beautiful Keith - when I saw the first photo I got confused due to thinking it was a 1:1 replica!!

Thanks guys, it was a long build, I got rather carried away with detail.
I do like the Roden Albies, though the fuselage is generic and needed a few mods (outside the conversion to OAW spec) Those that followed my blog on aeroscale are quite aware just how much. Anyway heres a couple of in progress pics to show what I mean.

I shaved sanded and rebuilt the fuselage interior. Inspired by my DIII OAW build that I still havent completed. lol

my first foray into serious brass work, the plastic ones just couldnt take the pressure. lol

lower tail fin and skid needed some reshaping.
Dan. The DIII's a nice kit but be aware the intrior is wrong, but it depends how accurate/AMS inflicted you are, as to how much it would concern you.
Chris, I did a bit of both, started with masks but got carried away, as I do and ended up freehanding a lot.

Keith, beautiful build! I just aquired one of the Albi D.II's Encore kits for $30.00, that was a great deal. Have already built the D.I in the Prussian Princes markings. Again, great build.

Steve yes the layout is rather like the D.Va inside, odly it seems to have slipped through the info net, I was alerted to it by Doug Bauman. I had limks to my old blog on my PC but it died. If you want I'll dig it up for you.
Thanks for the feedback guys

Superb work, I particularly like the touch of the prop coverings (I take it that's what they are).
