Hi y'all!
Here's another build that's a few months old.
The roden kit is really nice and the part photoetched sheet I used is virtually useless since all the cockpit will be hidden under the top wing.
Here is part 1:

You're off to a brilliant start, Iwik! Beautiful work on the interior and engine. Is that the kit engine? It sure is sweet!
Cheers,
Bud

Well , nice to see you go down a scale Iwik , the one true scale !
I used this kit for my floatplane conversion , how was the fit of the fuselage halves ? And was there any warpage ?
Nice PE parts , shame that none of it will be seen . Only thing which will be visible is the seat and instrument panel .
Nice detail on Vectors engine , what size of wire did you use for the pushrods ? Also like how the turtle deck is shaping up :)

Hi!
Thanks for the kind words!
TERRI: No wrappage on my kit that I remember of. The only problem with them is that they are conceived for the two seater version. You have to add an extra top decking to the rear part which of course makes a big step and would make all details dissappear with the sanding process. Hence my decision to level everything and make some grooves in which I glued some copper wires, covered with putty. Careful sanding and voilą! As for the ignition wires, these are just copper wires you can find in any electric wires. Just find an old kitchen ustensil and take the electric cable apart.

All paint work done without masking tape. I'm done (almost) with those pains...
Hope you like it!

She's absolutely stunning, Iwik! The Strutter is one of my favorites and you've done a remarkable job on her. When I get around to doing mine, I'll be thrilled if it turns out half as sweet as yours.
Cheers,
Bud

Hello Iwik,
As always, I'm fan of your work...
I particullary do like the way you paint the wings with darker colors in the trailing adges. I will soon contact you to know more about cause I will apply it very soon...
One thing I bought a strutter too i Bron exposiiton last week, and speaking with a friend about the french decorations he told me the french strutters were silver. Do you eard something about that? (I do prefer them in fabric color as you did, so I will be very easy to convince...

very nice ,great to see some more 1/48 stuff, theres so many wnw threads i cant keep up, i definately check out this type stuff.

Hi y'all!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
I might be posting some of my even older kits if you want, otherwise I'm afraid you won't be hearing of me for a while. I'll soon start work on a Hobbycraft 1/32 Spad XIII, but it will be for Wingmaster first...

Ps Xan, most Sop 1/2 were silverdoped. In the WD it is said that (if I remember correctly) some early ones (for the Brits? I can't rememeber either, will have to look it up home...) were indeed clear doped. But we're not sure which ones... Pm me anytime you want! I'll give you my number!
-
Iwik, that is true about the silver dope on the French Strutters. (I didn't want to say anything. :) ) It is believed that some early French machines were CDL, there is a t least one contemporary painting of one, but yes the majority were enduit metalaise (sp?).
The British machines were CDL at first, if memory serves, and then PC10 uppers.

Warren is correct, Iwik. In addition, a number of RNAS 9700's were transferred to France in their original cdl. This information is in both Datafiles and Cross and Cockade. So, your cdl ship could be correct. Even so, who cares. It's a magnificent model.
Cheers,
Bud

A terrific model all the same and one of my favorite subjects to boot.
