Thank you for your generous comments, my friends!
This one is moving right along.  Since my last post, I got her all closed up.

Modified the wings to the correct configuration for the D.I.

Then I preshaded and painted the undersurfaces.

I now have both the D.I and the Strutter at the same stage in construction.  It's fun working on these two together.

Cheers,
Bud

Thanks, Bobbsy and Borsos!  This is really an easy kit, though.  Much easier than your Roden D.I, Andreas.  Don't know why I never built one before. ???
Cheers,
Bud

Wow! Bud, you're a modeling ace!  Excellent work on both the Strutter and the Albatros,
particularly the Alby's wings.  Well done, my friend.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Bud,

are you happy with Roden's interpretation of the Albatros' ribtapes? Compared with WNW's D.V family, i find Roden's effort a bit underdetailed...

Thanks a bunch, guys!
Stefan, this is the 1/48 Gavia/Eduard D.I and although the ribs are more defined than those on the Roden kit, they still fall well short of what WNW provides and even what is represented on the Eduard Oeffag kits.  I was tempted to use one of those as the basis for this project, but the fuselage would've required too much work and I wanted this to be a quick, easy build...

Top colors are on.  I used the Mister Kit Albatros colors, thinned with Vallejo Air Brush Thinner, and Dan-San Abbott's 1995 article in WWI Aero as a guide.

Much more colorful than the Strutter...

Cheers,
Bud

Very cool Bud! The Albatros and Halberstadts are my favorite aircraft. I really like the way you painted the wings. I have 2 of these in my stash and I took one out the other night just to look at it. Keep up the good work!
