I received my WNW order today, but... they shipped me the wrong package  :(

I'd ordered a Pfalz D.IIIa, but when I opened the package, it contained an Albatros D.Va, with a packing slip for some gent in Sweden.  His name sounds very much like mine, and with a Kiwi accent on top of that, maybe they got his and my parcels confused.  I've worked in manufacturing companies for many years, and picturing the hectic shipping in the days after WNW's Christmas shutdown, I just hope they didn't make too many shipping errors.

The interesting thing is that with the US's exorbitant postage rates, returning the Albatros from the US to NZ will cost more than my estimate of the kit's manufacturing/wholesale cost.  It would be more cost-effective for WNW to simply ship me the correct kit and let me keep the Albatros.  It will be interesting to see how they decide to handle it.

Well, thinking that for $40 I can't lose even if it's a P.o.S., I picked up this guy on sale:

How can you go wrong for an introduction to airbrushing.

What I'm really excited about, though, is this bad boy:

Regular price $200, on sale for $99.99, got it for $80, just because I'm a great guy.  ;)

I believe the appropriate exclamatory phrase is, ahem, "BOOYAH!"

Way over-sized for hobby stuff, but I was really having problems with looking at buying a single-purpose item for >$100. A full tank of air should run the airbrush for, like, ever, and I can also run air tools off of it. You know, because I have so many air tools.

Either way, if I can borrow another phrase, this time from my friends in Blightly, I'm pretty chuffed.

I believe it would be WNW's responsibility to arrange for the return of the wrong kit, and this may be not efficient cost wise.  I think I have read of a similar occurrence before, where the unintended recipient was able to keep the wrong model, as well as getting the one he/she paid for.  Of course, I am in no position to say that will happen to you.  What I do know, is that WNW have always shown very good levels of customer service.  They may take a while to reply, but this is usually down to workload.

After pestering several people who post here regularly with questions pertaining to the benefits of a commercially made spray booth or building my own, and then after much wringing of the hands, I just threw the budget out the window and invested in this booth.

The only downside was that I'm selling my table saw, bandsaw and wood lathe to offset the expense. My thinking is that I'll use this booth much more than I've been using those tools for the last few years.

Cheers,

Chris

As much as I can get! It's at the local auction house along with the other two so if you're feeling like paying for my new booth, Friday evening in Newtonville is the place to be.  ;)

I ordered the same Booth as Chris; we were comparing notes forever and when he committed, I had to "keep up with the Johnson's". It's supposed to arrive by end week, looking forward to no more fumes at least. I've started using laquers a lot more and it was getting scary!
Cheers,
Lance

Lance made me do it. At least that's what I told my wife.  ;D ;D

Will do Gregory. I built a bench for it today and the next job (after a small shelving unit) is to set up the duct work. I've yet to actually turn it on yet.

Wow, I bet you guys'll be able to handle the Ebola virus safely using those units!

My engineer son took a gander at it and wanted to know where the scrubber unit was. He likes to keep my feet firmly planted on the ground.

Cheers,

Chris

G'day.

Things have been rather busy (yes, I know I'm "retired", but.....) and I haven't increased my stash since my D.VII and Hannover arrived.  But thanks to some good advice from Bob (rhallinger) and Steve (Checkers67), I have managed to increase my library:

Now to sit back, turn on the aircon and have a good read!  My FCM decals for the Albie (32014), some HGW belt sets and a few other bits to fondle have also trickled in, now the post offices aren't clogged with parcels.

Cheers.

Dal.

Looks to me like you have more than just a passing interest in Austro-Hungarian aviation Dal. That's a nice collection of reading material.

Cheers,

Chris

Just after Christmas I bought a book from eBay from a UK based remainder book seller, it was on a WW2 aircraft.

When the book arrived they sent with a catalogue of all the books that they currently had available. Included in the listing was The British Airship at War 1914 - 1918
As I have no knowledge of British Airships and as it was only £4-99 + £2-00 P+P I thought what the hell, it could be very helpful .....

Anyway it arrived today and a very interesting book it is.

When war broke out in August 1914, Britain possessed only seven military airships, all owned by the Admiralty. During four years of war 225 more were built and 107 of them were still in commission at the time of the Armistice. Patrick Abbott traces the operations of the airships in detail, describing their very significant role in defeating U-boats and their deterrent value in escorting shipping. The book includes a complete list of British military airships, 1914- 1921.

Anyone in the UK interested the booksellers website is http://www.psbooks.co.uk/  Just look under History/WW1 in the menu. They have quite a few WW! books at very good prices available. I've just order the Peter Barton/IWM Arras book as well today.

Where did you find "Air Aces of the Austro- Hungarian Empire 1914-1918 at ? I loaned my copy out quite awhile ago and never got it back. Come to think of it I don't even who I loaned it to either. As Steve (Pepperman42) said the O'Connor book is magnificent as are his other works on A-H aircraft .
