Both uppers and unders look excellent to My Eyes! I think you have achieved what you were trying to do and then some.

So, it's been a while, but here is a small update.

Here you can see that the Undercarriage has been fitted and the horizontal stab and elevators.  The model sits in the jig I made some 18 years ago when I was building my Roden BE2c...  Funny the things you hang on to.

The rigging is going to be monofilament and heat stretched cotton bud sticks (has anyone else noticed that you can't buy cotton bud sticks with plastic sticks any more?)...  attached to twisted wire loops C/A'd into 1/64" holes that were drilled into the flying surfaces.

You can see one of the Elevator control horns on the side of the fuselage with control line already attached...  I lost one last night in the carpet and spent hours looking for it.  Thank goodness, I found it this morning when I went back for "one last look".

The struts were painted using the RB Production etched templates.  I really like these.  Looks like I have a new favourite wood painting method.  I hate using oil paints... Take far too long to dry.
I did a base coat of Tamiya XF-59 Desert Yellow, then sprayed through the etched templates with Tamiya XF-10 Flat Brown.  Then oversprayed with Tamiya X-26 Clear Orange.

Now to get that top wing on.  A job I've been putting off...

More soon.

Cheers,

Hugh

Instead of trying to heat stretch plastic cotton buds, I have .017 inch inside diameter polyimide tubing in 12 inch lengths for $2 USD for anyone who wants some. Price includes worldwide postage which is now $1.20 plus PayPal fee so this is a favor to forum members.

Outstanding progress Hugh! I love the PC10 and the struts came out nicely as well. It will look awesome as a Bi Plane!

I like the painting very much. I never tried painting wood with a template, maybe I should try it.

I have my eyes on the RB woodgrain templates for a while too. The result looks great, and I am not to fond of oils myself.

Thanks for sharing this great build log with us Hugh!

Nice paint job!
This biplane has many similarities with the SE.5a, need to build it one day.

Cheers,
