This is what happens when you're at home sick and bored.
Any suggestions on a paint scheme? I need decals for this one.
-
Holy crap, Stan! What scale is that?! We have horse flies bigger than that here in Ione!
Cheers,
Bud

Crazy is an understatement Stan ;) Are you going to rig this model and I expect to see spoked wheels as well.... :)
Des.

It's 33mm nose to rudder. Maybe someone can do the scale conversion for me.
-
I have an idea on painting lozenges, but I had rather not.The struts are going to be fun.Maybe I didn't think this through enough.

....and valve stems........ :o

Working on the cockpit and pilot right now, then I'll lace the wheels!LOL!

1/160 or more ??? Courage my friend. Being a little bit crazy will certainly help!

As 160th scale is the same as model railroad N scale, you can easily find a plastic kit of a building structure plus figures for a diorama.
-
I have some parts from an old Space1999 Moonbase zAlpha kit that has figures that close.I don't know if ill do anything today. My back is better, but the meds for my bronchitis are messing with me.

And I trust you'll be drilling out the gun barrels?
At a time when we have an arms race towards bigger and bigger plastic models how amazing to see this work, Stan. My French friends would say chapeau! by way of expressing congratulations.
Best wishes
Nigel

You must be bored….. and are you sure that the bronchitis medication is only messing you? Never mind, you have seen what some can do in 1/72 scale so 1/160 should not present too many more problems - after all nobody will be able to see the finest details, you can either tell people to imagine that they are there or go for the Emperor's clothes trick.

Modelnut,
"Full Build" on the cockpit I would hope?!?! I'd get the medication checked out first opportunity though..................... ::)

My eyes hurt trying to focus on the parts. My best wishes for a speedy recovery,
Modelnut. ;) ;D Definitely a man with too much time on his hands. ;D
Cheers,
Ernie :)

33 mm vs 6.95m real scale make it 1/210! Good news are it is Fokker, so ALMOST NO RIGGING. But the spoked wheels would be fine.
As for the colour scheme, I would still suggest hand painted losenge on the entire airframe. If not, than maybe a yellow-black Sachsenberg checkboard ;)
All in all, I envy you the time, thou not the illness...
-
Thanks gentlemen. I chose the red and white Raven scheme. For the underside losenge I am stippling paint with a stiff brush. At this tiny size it works if you squint your eyes.
-
I finished the baby bird today. My phone has been wonky today and it won't.let me post the photo.I'll try again later.

I find that works in 1/32 scale too. :D

Here she is,bigger than life.

Some more.
-
Thanks everyone for the encouragement, just don't ask for a Dr1 hangermate!
Stan
-
Bravo for a very good attempt. You are the front runner for the Lilliputian model prize for 2014.
-
Holy cow Stan!! And to think I had trouble with 1/32 scale .I'm very much looking forward to watching this tiny tiny gem progress.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette

You know, Stan, we have bigger mosquitoes here. ;) ;D I never thought
of a model as a lapel pin, but there you go. Amazing work, though!
Cheers,
Ernie :)
-
Great result Stan, love the colours you used.
Des.
-
You are correct Stan, you must be crazy! (You do phenomenal work though!!) :)
..........and as for Ernie's comments about the Mosquitos here (we live in North Western Canada) that's why we can't join you in building in this scale, the "skeeters" would destroy the models trying to have their carnal way with them! ;) Last, you are smart like a fox, you could hide a phenomenal size stash of these no problem!
Cheers,
Lance
-
Brilliant, Stan. My wife would love wearing that as a pendant. It goes nicely with Monnington's D.VII I just finished.
Cheers,
Bud
-
Thanks guys. Sometimes its fun just to experiment. Low cost,no loss out of the sheet plastic drawer.
-
....and the Testor's paint jars are small enough to begin with................amazing!
-
Hi Stan,
Didn't know it was that small. Lovely colors. Well done!
Kind regards
Patrick
-
I forgot to post the size. Approximately 1 1/2 long with 1 3/4 inch wingspan.
Thanks!
-
Hehehe... insane, but u got to love it. Congrats.
P.S.- don't know if u know... but you're crazy! ;D
Cheers
-
Don't you worry Stan, craziness and genius are so close the one to the other and I would in this case opt for the second one!
Kind regards
Patrick

A Tiny but really well done DVII! You are working in a scale that would allow displaying a whole Geschwader! How about more ::)

lately 1/144 scale stuff has been popping up more and more. ive seen 3-d printed models that you just paint, and decals for sale for many ww1 schemes. i know this is the prefered scale for gamers to use. but i'm sure fun as a build too and yours turned out great.
-
I would love a chance at those" :)
-
heres some decals but many times there are a few 3-d printed stuff, they look like they are white in color so all you would have to do is paint:
