Thanks for the support! I had a bad time for a while and it was mostly connected to attaching the upper wing. In the end I won over the struts and rigging is progressing slowly... maybe a picture or two tomorrow.

The mating of upper and lower wings is one thing that WNW perfected. I hope future kits by any company, in all scales,  have learned the lesson of positive strut location! I know these older kits can be challenging. Looking forward to your progress!

Thanks Terri and Rick!

I guess there could be something like experience that would help in attaching top wings, but this was probably pure luck! Eduard's struts aren't that bad, but they sure don't just fall into place either. Finally I simply superglued the cabane struts in a way that looked ok and then I attached the top wing to those and finally I took the rest of the struts and superglued them into place as well. But, like I said, probably pure luck!  :P :P :P

Some pictures... nothing much to say apart from that the first ones show the upper wing attached but no rigging done and then the last ones show all of the wires done. Next up, tomorrow possibly, would be control wires. Ohh, if you look closely you'll see that I carved a hole in each lower wing, close to the outer struts and attached the control wires running from the fuselage. Thanks again sp for your assistance! Frank, your build will come in handy for the control wires... so thank you again but in advance!

Stunning Fredrik!

I love that muted paint mask work. Spot on.

I find top wing attachments really tricky!

In Spite of any difficulties in mounting the upper wing your Bristol looks great! The rigging is looking superb. Excellent results.

Whatever issues you had , you overcame that hurdle wonderfully ! An excellent start on the rigging as well . How are you doing the double wires ?

Thanks Guy!
Yes I quite like the colours and their intensity, or lack thereof. I used Mr Paint's semi matte clear and it gave a nice look.

Thanks Rick, Terri and Frank! You three must be among the very top of positive forum commentators!

Terri; The double wires are simply two single wires. Two holes drilled as parallel to eachother as I could at both ends and then the normal eyelet and tubing approach.

Take care!

Hi Fredrik

You are a braver man than me, tackling a double bay biplane top wing in 1/48 scale. I find top wings daunting on every model and follow the same process as you- cabane struts first then the outer struts with fingers crossed and tube of super glue gel to hand.

Your Bristol Fighter looks really nice. I always feel a model starts to look like it's on the road to completion when the undercarriage is added and the top wing glued in place and aligned.

Great build!
