Hannants have it in stock but I've seen no review or sprue shots to know what it's like. ???

This was posted in the thread when the kits were announced. Personally I think the sprue shots are better.

Well as long as there is absolutely NO FLEX when moving, Lifting, Looking at, or breathing in the general direction, should be fine!

You are probably quite right with what you say Rick.

Mmm, no decals? ;D

I did what I consider to be a fairly comprehensive review of the corresponding Dr.I from Merit (on another site), and if the SE5A is similar, I wouldn't be too thrilled about it.

We have some very talented modelers here who could probably weave their magic and turn the kit into a real show stopper, maybe ;) ;)

I tried the PE rigging with the Tamiya Swordfish. Hated it :-[
Impossible to stop it flexing, and it just didn't look right to me. I'd love to have a bash at the kit though :)

I'm sure that's true, Des. I think overall the kit has pretty good proportions, the rest could be added (or not) by the individual modeler, as much or little as they seem willing to do, like with most kits.

Anyone plan on buying this kit?

Jamo I would love to buy the Merit 1/24 SE5a as that's my favourite WW1 aircraft. But exchange rates and postage from the UK are major obstacles just now. I'm hoping an Aussie store like BNA Modelworld or Metro Hobbies will stock the kit at a realistic price. if so, I'm in!

Yes, Guy. Even the box art on my Tamiya Swordfish, which shows a built model, betrays the problems that can beset PE rigging.
Best wishes

I'm tempted. I caught a good look at the kit during my weekly visit to Hannants London, and I must say the kit, although in need of some work, will no doubt produce a super looking SE.
I don't care much for the etched rigging, but one must give credit to Merit for including it in the kit.
