Hi all
This is my first project on this forum but I hope not the last one, because I fell in love with Wingnut models. My English is not very well so I'm going to show more pictures then write the text.
Roland this is my first Wingnut, so far I have built airplane models from World War II. For now I haven't many thing to show but I'm working on it.

Beautiful work on what is one of WNW's finest products.
I love the ignition wiring to the plugs
Any hints on how you did it? I'm stumped trying to get *the look* right for my Albatros.

Extreme close-up photography often shows blemishes but certainly not in this case. Your work is immaculate!
Cheers,
Chris
-
Was just going to say (as I saw Chris's comment) when I use macro mode on my camera for closeups I am tempted to start all over again, it really brings out the "ugly"! In your case Simon it goes to illustrate how clean and beautiful your work is. Great to see, and hoping for more!
Cheers,

Simon,
the valve springs are...
- selfmade (wow!)?

Welcome to the forum, Simon. I'm looking forward to seeing all of your work if this is the standard of quality you put out. Like the others said, the engine is incredible in its realism, but the thing that really made me take notice was the weathering around the nails in the floorboards. Absolutely the most realistic I've seen. Can you share how you did that?
Lindsay
-
Lindsay, My English is not very well, but I'll try to describe my work.
1.At the beginning of the boards were painted the color of light sand.
2.Then use the airbrush stencil painted wood grain with tan color.
3.Next a light wipe oil paints.
4.The weathering around the nails I made a thin brush (000) dark-brown oil paints.
5.In the end boards painted orange and yellow clear and pointed nails Metalic gunze
Regards
Simon
-
Well, when you put it like that, it sounds very easy! Almost makes me think I could do it. ;)
And not to worry about the English. I'm a native English speaker and I still manage to make a mess of it! Besides, your English is better than my Polish (I'm making assumptions).
Thanks for the tutorial,
Lindsay
-
This proceeding scheme, the rest is a matter of skill and training

Simon

That engine looks incredible Simon, really well done.
I might not be the only one that would like to hear your thoughts on using that Heavy Chipping acrylic fluid. That's the first I've ever heard of it.

Outstanding work on the engine, the shading/hiliting and the "grime" are really impressive. Looking forward to more as you progress.

I have been using this specific not for a long time but I have to say that it gives a nice effect very fast and easy. I apply it using airbrush or brush, depending on the size of the element.
-
Szymon,
great effect on the tank and the engine looks superb.
With that chipping fluid, how does it actually work/how do you use it? Do you apply it then chip it off?
Andrew
-
When I look at an engine, my attention is always immediately drawn to the wiring. Yours is absolutely superb.
Cheers,
Chris

That engine really is astounding.

Sorry, I have not I replied, but I was a little busy. So yes, as I wrote I apply it using airbrush or brush, then I paint with paint which I wear out (it must be acrylic paint) Then with a brush and hot water scrape paint

Beautiful! And helpful, I mean that engine, for my D.XII build. ;) Thanks, Szymon.

Great ! :)
One of these days, I must get a WNW model.
Right now, I'm basically only building models that require a good deal of putty and hair pulling ;)
-
Awesome.

Hello after a long break, I present some new pics of my Roland, The work goes slowly because of lack of time. I managed to complete the work on the fuselage. From my woodwork I'm average satisfied, now is time to wings, I will test the new fabric lozenge from "wood and wire".

Hi Simon,
great technique on the weathering of the fuselage. What did you use for the finish? Is it clear Tamiya Orange or just clear varnish?
Greeting from Germany and congratulations to your exceptional work!
Dirk
-
Amazing work. The combination of techniques are very convincing. That RB stencil is worth picking up after I see these results!!! ;D
Steve

This is absolutely spectacular...............wonderful detail, talent everywhere, and what I believe is probably the best representation of clear wood we have seen. Szymon, my sincere compliments, you are a true master and I really look forward to your completed project!

This is Tamiya orange and clear yellow (Gunze H 91) and in the end semi matte clear varnish
Many thanks, gentleman, I feel honored, especially since this is my first such large woodwork

Great job Simon! Did you used only teh paints with a brush? Or was used some kind of color pencil to create the grain detail?

I used only the brush (00)
