This short article appeared in Planes magazine Vol 1, Number 4 Summer 1982. Curiously, the author is not noted.

This article appeared in Scale Models magazine 34 years ago. The kit has been released again, so may be worthwhile to give this article another airing

:) One of the modellers in our IPMS club, Rex Crawford, passed away a year or so ago. He had a den completely filled with kits, books, magazines, profiles, models etc. Neil Bissell ( a close friend of Rex's) and I used to gather there after club meetings and talk modelling and aviation. Lots of good memories. Rex had been collecting for a very long time. His wife is now disposing of all the stuff and I was offered to take a pile of old magazines. Some date back to 1935  :o

I am now going through them all to see what is worth saving.

Here is a photo of Rex's model collection, all RAF aircraft, displayed in his honour at our last Model Expo (where WNW released their two Roland models)

Wow! Nice work Rex! It's a fine thing you are doing, Jamo. I do wonder how much knowledge has been chucked in the bin and lost once avid scholars pass away.

I would venture that a lot of such knowledge, material, and the results of countless hours of effort by those no longer with us goes to the landfills unrecognised and gone forever. Nice to see, in this case, that a true artist's efforts have been preserved and can now be shared with all. I can't imagine the treasure trove of knowledge and info that resides in his den, and his Model Collection is truly magnificent. Worth a thought perhaps, for all of us. :-\
On the bright side, Cheers! :)

Here is a more detailed build article for the Airfix 0400 by Neil Pinchbeck, which appeared  in Scale Aviation Modeller International back in May 2005

Diorama idea?

This model won a Gold medal at Telford in 2010. Don't know who the talented modeller was

Grey Matter Figures will be producing a very accurate detailed 1/48th scale Handley Page bomber.

Thanks Jamo, I bought the Airfix 0/400 a couple of months ago and I'll keep this information close to the box!
