Hello again,
Now innovative idea to implement metal structures into airplane instead of canvas!
Roden’s Junkers D.I early version & Windsock data file were taken on the desk.
General view is rather promising as manufacturer was quite adequate in details but lack of P/E parts and panel instruments is a lack
Interior: well not corrugated metal sheet visible, so looking into plane in details photo this one must have been applied. I have prepared one from baking tin, which was strengthened by hairspray.

Meantime engine was prepared:

Next question occurred, which colour interior should be painted??? Some metal part must have been protected against the corrosion somehow. As I am not metallurgist maybe someone can advise?

You have made a great start with this kit, the corrugations look very good as is the rest of the fuselage interior work.

Excellent work with the baking tin! Your corrugations look great! The rest of the interior is also shaping up nicely!

Outstanding work on the corrugated aluminum, K! The engine looks great, as well.

Hello gentlemen,
Very nice start. I follow your D1. ;)
Best regards.

Hi,
Thanks The Red Baron for your hint! I will follow your steps. Interior was painted with final layer and varnished. I have prepared the dashboard instruments using some P/E leftovers from german planes built before and the copper wire as well.
Now the engine is finished and the fuselage assembly can be done

Hello,
last glance on the interior
(http://rebe83.waw.pl/pub/krzysiek/warsztat/JunkersDI/JDI_13.JPG)
and once the whole assembly needs to be prepared for base paint I have started to work on the prop.
First the grain had to be painted, next some oil paints implemented to enhance the outlook. Last varnish layer has not been laid yet

good work, I take a chair and will fallow you!

ok Boys&Girl:)
Now the most interesting part of all build - painting ;D
So first Vallejo alu was implemented and then the middle white/blue. According to Windsock the upper part was painted white, so I decided to mix it with little of RLM 65.(does not look as but on further photo should be ok)

Let’s move to upper part. I have painted light green and prepared for laying mauve layer. To do so I took violet from Vallejo and the put the filter with red. I have decided first to do wings and then the fuselage

Great work on the propeller and the painting, Krzysiek. :D
You really are doing a commendable job on the D.I. I look
forward to the next updates. :)
Cheers,
Ernie :)

This looks great in my eyes and your technique for doing the camo worked beautifully, looking forward to seeing it applied to the fuselage.
I have never really been a fan of the Junkers D.1 but after following your build this aeroplane is starting to grow on me.
Des.

So, whole fuselage is painted same technique but little brush action is required as well

Excellent paint job! Putty worms have been my method of choice for years for doing complex soft-edge camo.
If you don't mind, I'd like to share the "sophisticated" putty-rolling tool I developed for this purpose. It makes rolling thin, consistent diameter worms a cinch. It's simply a smooth ceramic wall tile, available at any home improvement store, and a scrap of clear acrylic sheet. Simply place a ball of putty on the tile and roll with the acrylic sheet. The latter being clear lets you easily see the results. :)

K,
Your paint job looks great! That color combo hurts my eyes, but it looks spot on.
Eric,
That's brilliant, and sophisticated to boot! ;)
Warren

Your paint job looks great. Boy, they sure had a different view regarding camouflage and visibility back then!
Chris

It looks fantastic now that the fuselage camo has also been added, quite a spectacular scheme.
Thanks Eric for your tip on rolling the putty.

I really like it ! Very cool looking 8)
What type of putty do you use for this ?

Terri,
While I don't know what brand K used, I've tried several different types and by far the best is genuine Bostik Blu-Tack. I get it through Amazon as I can't find it in stores (in the U.S.)

For what it is worth there is a cheap alternative available at a lot of retail stores. Silly Putty works well for this purpose as long as you don't leave it on too long after masking. It tends to flatten as time goes by.

Nice build/scheme ;)
