WNW Albatros D.Va Jasta 17
« on: September 26, 2019, 09:33:30 PM »
Hello Chaps,

this is my WNW Albatros i'm working on and off since several months, it's a Jasta 17 Albi from an unknown pilot in 1918.
I'm building pretty slow so hopefully it will be finished someday :D.....

Cheers
Hans

That's the Albi i'm going for

Since my Albi is an example that's in service for some time the wings get a light preshading

I used Richard's ( Aviattic) excellent faded variant

Some Metalwork....

Radiator

Undercarriage parts...

Stress effects & weathering came out nicely...

Since it is the first time for me to create a wooden structure it took several attempts & techniques on the fuselage before i liked the result.....

Last pictures for now, i have a little break with this Albi build since i build a Spitfire at the moment...

Wonderful detailing and the wood finish is very nicely done. I have to ask, how did you do the nail patterns on the fuselage wood panels? I recently did the same kit with a natural wood finish and my "nail lines" aren't nearly as good as yours. I used a rotary rivet tool on mine.
Cheers,
Lance

Thanks for the quick answer, I have a Rivet "wheel" Tool in that size and will use it in future vs the smaller size.

Wow, the parts looks really nice so far, the finished model will be a beauty!
You wrote, you have not build that much planes, so you learned a lot form other modelers or you build other models - the result looks like created by experienced hands.

Cheers,
Frank

Very nicely weathered build, it’s going to be a beauty. One little thing if I may, the undercarriage legs should be the other way round, the shorter ones to the front...
Best regards
