Hi from me in Germany, actually I am from New Zealand but have been living most of the last couple of decades here.
Actually I am not sure if this is the right site for me or not. I am a modeller but not in the traditional way as most of you here. I am more into 3D modelling on the computer. When I was a lad, many moons ago, I did build model planes, ships and trains. 3D modelling is much cleaner and my brain doesn't get so affected by the fumes of the glue like it used to :)
I have recently decided to begin a project modelling a Fokker DR I and have been searching for a forum of intelligent minds and experts in their fields, and stumbled across this place. I lurked around here for a week or so, reading and getting to know some of you from behind the scenes, and am rather impressed by the friendliness and openess of you all. No trolls or troublemakers here at all! My kind of forum definitely. Being a non-forumy kind of person myself, and not particularly talkative or conversational, I have decided to join up with you all anyway to tap your knowledge and perhaps share my WIPs with you to fish for constructive critique, or just to show off :)
If I am in the wrong place then please let me know, and if not, and you wouldn't mind accepting a non-traditional modeller into your midst, then I promise I will behave ;)
That's it ......

PS: Sorry about the footy yesterday Portugal, no hard feelings ;)

Hi Kiwiness -- welcome aboard. I am looking forward to seeing your work. We have a CGI category here and I think you will be welcome to post your work there. I believe any questions and or discussions of the subject matter (WWI aircraft) is on-topic for this forum.
I have done some 3D modelling myself for game assets etc. Actually that is sort of what kicked me back into plastic. There are a few other virtual modellers here as well.
Cheers,

Welcome to the forum, Kiwiness. It would be nice to see your
projects. When it comes to early aviation, I figure the more the merrier. :D
I'm sure you will find helpful information here. Good to have you aboard.
Cheers,
Ernie :)

Hello Kiwiness and welcome to the forum, it is so nice to have you here. As Bo has said, we have a CGI board which I hope you will post your work in, I am fascinated by the images you CGI artists do and I have used some of the images in my model making. Please feel free to ask as many questions as you like, we have some very talented members and all are willing to share their knowledge.

Welcome aboard, kiwiness! Glad you found us. Being a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to computers, I hope to learn a little from you (and Bo), but don't hold out much hope. (Old dog, new tricks, blah, blah, blah.) I look forward to seeing your work.
Cheers,
Bud

Welcome to the Forum and I can not add anything other than I am in agreement with all of the others! There was a 3d modeler on the Aerodrome forum that did some awesome work and provided some great illustrations such as rigging a DH2 that helped us Plastic guys immensely!

Thanks for the friendly welcome! Good to see some fellow kiwis here too, even from windy Wellington :)
At the moment I am working on an Avro Lancaster (Dambuster), but I aim to begin on my Fokker DR1 tomorrow and work on it parallel to the lanc. I will begin a WIP thread in the CGI section and record the complete project from start to finish. I am so excited about this and will look forward to all your feedback, critique and tips.
I am so glad to have found this site, and hope to learn a lot from you all and become a regular contributor.

Thanks FOKKERJ. Are you living in Germany too? Where you from?
My Great-Grandparents, Charlie & Amelia Schwartz, were from Germany and immigrated here during the 1870's. I have never been there. :'(
I'm from Allover, USA and currently reside in Beautiful Downtown Podunk, Oregon. 8)
My Grandfather Adolph August Schwartz was a 1st Lieutenant, Corp of Engineers, U.S. Army, AEF. He served during WWI. :)
There was one or two Flieger Schwartz with 5 confirmed victories during WWI, but I don't know them. :-\
Best Wishes, Jay Swartz aka FOKKERJ
