Thanks as always! I appreciate the kind words & encouragement!
I have been painting on the fuselage over the past week or 2. I started with the a mix of Tamiya Desert Yellow & white for the base, followed by grain drawn on with a burnt sienna watercolor pencil. I still need to refine my wood grain drawing technique, as someone on Facebook pointed out that the trees must have been huge back then judging from the size of my grain.
Oh well, I'll keep trying, plus much of this will be hidden with summer camouflage.
After a few passes with a damp brush, the grain was softened a bit & also gave the "wood" a nice tint. Watercolor washes were added here & there to tint various panels & lines.
After a few light coats of Testors Acryl clear gloss, I removed the masking.
Over the weekend, I added the various PE parts. One thing I tried was using matte aluminum Bare Metal Foil for the larger metal pieces on each side of the lower wing. After applying, I created swirl marks using 1500 grit sandpaper, then finished up with flat clear to subdue the shine. Although it is a bit hard to see in the photos, it looks almost right to the naked eye.
Small strips of leather combing still need to be painted, but that will be after the green summer camo.
Thanks again,
Steve
