http://www.gunthwaite.co.uk/news.htmThe latest release from Gunthwaite breaks new ground: they are their first figures produced in resin and they are their first First World War subjects (although some of their naval range is suitable for RNAS). The figures are pilots based on a well known photograph of No.1 Squadon at Clairmarais South in July 1918. The photo is interesting because it illustrates the variety of clothing worn on flying service during 1918, much of which had also been used in earlier periods of the war. The range of attire shown in the photograph is reflected in the models.
The figures come in sets of three:
GR72001: RAF Pilots 1918 (seated pilot, bare headed pilot and pilot with arm raised)
GR72002: RAF Pilots 1918 (officer with service cap, pilot with Sidcot suit and pilot with scarf)
GR72003: RAF Pilots 1918 (pilot bare head, pilots with scarves)
Gunthwaite do not sell direct but the range is available online from:
Halifax Modellers World (very expensive for modellers outside the EU as they wanted GBP20 for postage)
Coastal Craft (link is broken)
Float-a-boat in Australia. I have emailed this supplier and they normally only stock the naval figures but will get in these sets on request.
I have some of Gunthwaite's naval figures and they are very nice.
