Ps

As usual I managed to drop the horizontal stabiliser and knock off the moulded control horns. I struggle with finding a method to replace/add these that’s sturdy enough (as they’ll be under a degree of tension). Any thoughts here most welcome...

well, to tell the truth I am not a big fan at all of Fokkers in general and DrI in particular, but your build makes me want to star one soon....
very inspiring indeed and wonderfully executed!

That's unfortunate! It seems to me that the best way would be to make a hole straight through the wing in order to get a solid enough joint. I was going to say that you could open it up from the front edge of the elevator, but I see that the hole thing is molded as one piece, so I guess drilling through?!

Cheers Fredrik

Thanks Edo  :D

Fredrik, thanks, yes, I was coming to that conclusion myself. It’s going to have to be (brass) rod shaped though unless I can concoct something out of plastic card or similar that actually looks like a control horn... I’ll give that some thought.

One of those control horns was the only thing that came disassembled in My kit. Luckily I have Eduard, Part, and Aviattic PE sets that include control horns. I will most likely go ahead and separate the elevator and cut slots to install the PE versions. I am sure you will sort your broken Horn out!

Just now scoping this out Guy:  The interior work is stellar if not absolutely outstanding.  If you hadn't said that the seat belts were WWII Luftwaffe, I would have never known.  They look quite good against the leather seat that also looks like real leather.  The streaking is most realistic and with an airbrush, I have only seen that done on one other model and that was a long time ago, yours looks great.  This is gonna be a barn burner.

Thank you,

I had a bit of a brain wave (unusual for me!), there’s a second tailplane in the kit (for the prototype) - different profile, but I’ve carved that to match the Dr.1 version and looks fine I think. Just gives me the control horns back.

I’ve finished the engine, and if I’m being honest, not a lot of work has gone into it, only a few parts (but nicely moulded) and just sprayed. I haven’t added any detail.

Thanks Rick & Gary,

She’s progressed to being a biplane. Good fit so far - the wings click together like Lego - a welcome change from the Avro Manchester build! The further I get into the build, the more I like this kit. They are going to sell them by the bucket...

Thank goodness they sneaked this out in time!

Thanks Early Bird,

Yes I am pleased with it. Better than I hoped at least.

Guns finished. Standard Wingnuts fare. I’m deliberately keeping everything simple and not weathering to any great extent. I’ll be happy with a clean cut finish on this one.

I have got the insignia masks and they’re top notch! Thanks Fredrik. I’ll post the results soon.
