I knew I was in for a treat when I saw the thread title. The M5 is one of favourites and the model is simply mindblowing.

Not a sliver of silvering on the decals either. I’m out of superlatives  :-X

Magnificent piece of art!  This is impressive on so many levels but I’m particularly interested in your fabric effect. You have perfected a look I can barely get in my preferred 1/72 scale!   Always a pleasure seeing your work.

All the best,
Tim

Thank you everybody for such kind words! I'm glad the extra work that went into it paid off. The kit is very accurate in outline, although it does have a very grainy texture due to the limitations of the 3D-printed material. The easiest solution was to file all the external details off, smooth everything down, and then reapply the details by hand. The struts were all replaced too.

I think it was the 12x piece engine mount that nearly broke me. I did three versions before getting it correct.  :'(

Tim, I'm glad you liked the CDL. I sprayed a lightened version of Mr.Color 45 'Sail Color' on first. Then masked off each rib tape and lightly sprayed the rest of the exposed wing with a thin mist coat of straight Sail Colour to contrast it. I think next time however I will start with a white basecoat, rather than a grey primer to try to suggest the slight illumination you get from a semi-opaque wing.

Wow, that would be a terrific model in any scalel! But in 144th it's out of this world.

The printed parts on the last photo do not look very promising, requiring a lot of cleaning up.

Remind me of the rivets 50 years ago. ;D

Greetings joachim

Agree with Zac.  No way.  Where did you get the huge match box/stick?

Stunning.

Incredible work, William. I would have never thought this was 1/144 scale.

Limitations of the 3D-printed material? I think it's a limitation of the printer that was used. Better/more equipment wouldn't have that grainy "texture".

Great job to produce such a beautiful display.

That's it, I give up, nothing left for me to do but chew on paintbrushes in the corner, rocking slowly backwards and forwards... brilliant work!  ;D

Cheers,

My brushes are already gnawed down to nubs, Brad :)

If only it were possible to set this gem alongside Mike N's new HPH build when it's done, what a contrast that would be!
