Fokker D.VII manufacturer question
« on: June 30, 2014, 04:15:59 AM »
Hi everyone,

Does anyone have confirmation if this post-war D.VII is an OAW, Fokker or Albatros manufactured aircraft?

Thanks for any help,

Mark

i am almost positive thats a late fokker patterned cowl. the louver config know what i mean. the fokker d.viif if im not mistaken. the albatros late has less louvers and the oaw late has more.

Thanks Scott,

I don't have an original picture so I can't confirm if the decal picture is correct.

ah so you want to know if the d.vii with that marking was fokker, alb or oaw, the louvers in the art may not necessarily be the actual config. i want to say that dog scheme is in the d.vii anthology. i will check later when i get a chance and post tommorrow if i find anything.

Hi Scott

Thanks for the post! Yes, that's the reason. I can't seem to find a picture of it in any of my references.

I've built a post-war Halberstadt Polizflieger and I'd like to build the D.VII to display with it.

Many thanks for any help,

Mark

Mark,
My first thought for finding the Picture was the OLD Harleyford Fighter Aircraft of the 1914-1918 book. It is indeed pictured in the back section of the book. The downside is that the photo is so small and dark as to make it virtually impossible to tell any details. The only thing I can say is that the machine guns (SEEM) to be in the high mount location of a BMW engine DVII. I still think there is a better picture somewhere. Perhaps the Squadron in Action book which I sold long ago. I will keep digging.

Many thanks Rick. I had the Harleyford book awhile back but I think I gave it away at some point. I appreciate your effort!

I've looked through everything I have and can only find it in  the In Action book where they say its a Fokker built bird. Looking on the net I cant find much of anything. It is an interesting looking marking though.

Hope someone comes up trumps for you Mark.

Hi Scott,

The only info the instructions give is that the aircraft is a "Fokker D.VII of Polizflieger Staffel, Post-WW1".

mark, I couldn't remember if you were amongst the "Banned" on the Drome so I posted a question there. I will also look at the list as another source as I said in my PM.

I have somewhere in the house such a book.
http://kagero.pl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=199:fokker-d-vii-the-lethal-weapon&catid=94&Itemid=693&limitstart=0
But now I'm moving into a new flat and I would have to look for it.
If you do not know the book, I try to find something about this, but it may take some time

Adam.
