Title: Phönix 20.16 (1/48)
Post by: Naimbs on February 06, 2015, 08:22:05 AM
Hi all,

I propose to you the construction of a new scratch build of an  Austro-Hungarian prototype: the Phönix 40.16.

The Phönix 20.16 mated a  modified fuselage of the Hansa-Brandenburg D I (serie 28)  with a new wings.

I show you the different stages of construction until now.

The fuselage is recovered from a HB D. I Sierra vacuform. It is highly modified ...

Wings:

This is a really lovely build Arnaud.  It's great to see another A/H machine in progress.  Some of the most interesting machines of WW1 came from that front but all the emphasis has been put on the Western Front.

Gorgeous! Lovely wood grain, beautiful linen, and it looks great with the lower wings on!

That is superb modelling of an unusual subject. The wood grain is very realistic and with the wings on it is beginning to look very much like the real aeroplane.

Hello,
I already found this post. What a great piece of art! And what a clever way to do the wings (including ribs...). The balsa wood prevents the whole affair from bending I think? I'll try this method with my next scratchbuilt. Awesome!
Best wishes

Somehow I missed this build. I`ve just read the whole thread and I must admit that you`ve done a spectacular job Arnaud! Everything you do looks so neat and crisp. The woodwork is absolutely great and you had a very good idea to use the KD PE fret as a template for the cockpit. I`m looking forward to another update of this amazing build!
