LVA markings for WW1 aircraft; DH9A
« on: May 10, 2014, 01:06:21 AM »
At the introduction of the WNW DH9A it was remarked that the orange cockardes were missing on the decal sheet of WNW of you wanted to make the LVA version. This version is described in the WNW manual that goes with the kit.

Now Dutch Decal have provided a new set of 1:32 decals for mostly WW1 subjects active in the LVA and KNIL (the Ryan doesn't belong here) It contains 2 DH9A versions, a Spad VII and a Nieuport 21/23. As far as I know, the LVA DH9 and Spad VII were aircraft that somehow wandered into dutch airspace, landed and were not returned (but a lot of them have been bought somehow). The rest were ordinarily ordered airplanes.
I haven't seen proof, but I expect that the orange cockardes are included in the set. They were in previous dutch decal sets.

Hannants is selling them http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/DD32028 and they might also be ordered at dutch decal themselves:

Ivo

Edit: the owner of dutch decal just send me an E-mail telling me that there are no orange cockardes included. A paper paint mask is included. That may be tricky when using them on the LVA DH9 fuselage, where there is a WNW white striping decal underneath.

Just out of curiosity: the dutch decal sheet has markings for a Nieuport type 21/23 and a Spad VII. Suggestion on the sheet are to use a 1:32 Sword kit for those models.

Now are those new releases or old models?  I can't find anything at all at for instance Hannants and the Aviation Megastore.

Ivo
