Bye bye Photobucket, hello Imgur! Now I can post a few images of my latest project - Eduard's new 1/48 SE.5a.
This is a sweet little kit. I'll even go so far as to say that Eduard is now to 1/48 WWI subjects what WNW is to 1/32.

Ah, nice to see one started! Looks good so far.
I have this parts from the Royal kit on my desk too, to build the nightfighter. At the moment is on hold due to the Pfalz Triplane (neighbour thread). I have often more then one project running.
Please report pitfalls ;)
Cheers,
Frank

Looking really sweet Eric, love the colours you are using.

Thanks Des (and Frank) for those kind words.
FYI, the PC10 and CDL are from the new Mr. Paint (MRP) line. They come ready to spray and perform magnificently. Best paints I've ever used.
Cheers,
Eric

Outstanding start to a great looking kit. Looking forward to your progress.

Thankd eric and great job. Been hoping someone would start one of these . And yea Eduard would be wnw to 1/48 subjects if they would actually produce more than 1 model every 5 years besides another spitfire or me109 which is not even needed but they figure they can make their bread and butter off of the common everyday modeler who only knows about a few common ww2 fighters.lol

Looking good. I can't wait to see the next instalment.

Let the rigging commence! One of the nice things about WWI aircraft is that many of the bits and sub-assemblies can be finished separately and attached when the risk of loss or damage from handling is reduced. I'll start with rigging the tail, then the wings, and finally the undercarriage.
They're hard to see in this photo but there are about 50 1/48 Bob's Buckles installed as anchor points for the rigging lines which will be done with Uschi elastic rigging thread.
Four Buckles are barely visible at the left wing root just behind the leading edge. Four more are on each of the undercarriage strut's square attachment tab (those closest to the lower wing tip).

Very impressive, Eric! I just love reaching this stage when all the separate working has been done, all is ready for the initial rigging and things finally come together.
Best wishes

Thank you for the kind words guys!
Finally decided to put the SRAM Biplane Assembly jig I've had lying around my shop for years to use. Nifty little contraption.
I'll thread the rigging lines into their respective eyelets (Bob's Buckles), attach the wing, then tighten the lines.

Got to agree with My Amigo! Beautiful all around!

The whole thing's rigged, I tell you! Well, almost the whole thing. The 8 front flying wires (4 per wing) remain to be connected to the eyelets at the base of the forward undercarriage struts. Also need to add some control cables. But thankfully I'm past the tricky parts and everything went together and lined up perfectly.

That is lovely. I have a jig like that but mine is in a lot more pieces, I couldn't get on with it at all.

Looks great eric

Almost there! All parts in place. Just need to allow some glue to dry before final touch-up painting (including the rigging attachment points). :-)
