SPAD XIII Revell kit 1/28.
Very old kit, not exactly corresponding to reality. It served me for learning preshading.

Here's my only SPAD X.III - the Eduard 1/72 kit, built straight out of the box. This one was built back in 2007-ish and took me around a week to build.

Gents ,
All great looking Spad's
Jacek - your Revell 1/28 really looks the part - I've just completed the same kit, so know the work you would have put into this venerable old kit!
Regards
Dave

What a group of excellent models. Very high standards of finish and very colourful schemes. The Revell kit is so old it must be growing a white beard, but you have really shown what can be done with patience and skill.

Without any doubt there are very skilled guys around here.
Awesome SPADs gentleman... congrats!

My attempt at the Eduard 1:72 SPAD XIII. Not as good as the rest, but I like it!

Nice SPAD !
I really like the colors that You have used.

Jacek,
Ah you just have to love those SPADS. Here's a couple of my ancient SPAD projects for your approval. First up is a SPAD XII in 1/48 scale. This was a conversion project using a Hawk SPAD XIII from the early 50's. Once completed there wasn't much of the donor kit remaining.

What a lovely finish you achieved Gregory and, as Jacek says, the display technique is really interesting.

Jacek and Nigel,
Thank you very much for your ind words.I appreciate it. The SPAD's are mine but I can't take credit for the display. This is the work of the staff at the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum.

@ Jacek:
I really like the scheme of this model, very colorful. For sheer modeling fun, I think these 1/28 Scale kits are great. If you don't get too wrapped around the axle over details, they are a nice model to build.
@ Brad: Neat scheme and I like the faded colors.
@ Gregory: Exellent craftsmanship, especially when one considers what you started with.
@Ssashoo: Nice work. Rigging is very nicely done.
Best

Okay, I have posted these before, but here they are again. These first ones are the Academy/Hobbycraft SpadXIII in Barca's markings, again, had I had references they would be different. I still like it.

a nice thread, here is my Academy 1/32 scale SPAD XIII - a custom set of decals was made to represent the aircraft flown by Lt. Sumner Sewall of the 95th Aero Squadron Nov 1918. Thanks to an in depth conversation with Alan Toelle I got all of the details right (after three attempts lol!) other than the color Beige, which should have more of a "pumpkin" shade to it, but there will be a lot more SPADS to come...
Dave

Here are a couple more photos of Sewell's SPAD.

Ok, I missed a bunch but I must say I am impressed by all of the SPADS posted. Gregorys' Conversion and Daves 1/28th kit stand out to me. Lovwly schemes and beautifully painted!

My latest SPAD, a full build article currently over at Internet Modeler for anyone interested in it... This is Charles Nungesser's Spad XIII from the 1/48 scale Eduard kit, further research has shown that the red/white/blue triangle behind the cockpit should be a white triangle offset to one side, designed to confuse the opponents aim.

Dave and Sobrien, two more really excellent Builds for the display here. The colours are spectacular and the markings available for the Spad XIII seemingly endless. It's not difficult to understand why so many here have two or more of these on their shelves, very nice to see! 8)

Definitely a fine addition to the thread, Rick. So now we have a French and British SPAD completed and an Italian one in the works at this time.
-
Bravo Rick, it may be a simple scheme but it looks so good!
-
Here’s my admittedly lacking attempt at recreating Frank Luke’s #26 using the DML/Dragon 1/48 SPAD XIII Kit.
The only additions that I can recall are some styrene tubing, perhaps some copper wire (cockpit pipes and wiring) and an aftermarket decal set (which turned out to be incomplete, so I had to improvise a wee bit). EZ line was used for rigging and Mr Colour paints used for the camouflage scheme. Any wood grain was done using oil over acrylic. The finish was far too dull/matte in the end.
It was admittedly very rushed, but I’m happy with it anyways though and I guess that’s what counts. Maybe I’ll try a larger one some day. Here are some pics:

Excellent work Frank! I built one of these as a kid and I remember having fun with the etched struts (etch was a very new thing to me... so new that I had no idea how to glue it all together...!). These DML kits were a wonder of awesomeness to me back in the day. You've done cracking job.
Cheers,
